Stick with the wood foregrip. Looks great. That's the way it should look IMO.

Nice, good luck.

I would like to know what exactly it takes to do one of these builds. I have a Yugo underfolder from Century Arms myself. Which I like, but from what I have read, I think I can build a better quality one myself. I added a Primary Weapons System muzzle break and I highly reccomend it!

NoDak receiver...great way to start. The AK I bought is built around one of their receivers and I'm glad it is...

:thumbs2:

Looks like fun!! Are you planning on going with the ace sidefolder in the first picture? I have one on my Saiga and like it a lot. All the benefits of a folder, but you can get an actual comfortable cheek weld with it like a fixed stock.

They look awesome in black!

This Draco is waiting on a tax stamp (three months out hopefully), then stormwerkz mechanism and 7.5 ace stock.

AndyC wrote:Well, the AK kit costs whatever it costs you; I got this one a few years ago for around $90.

Parts:
The receiver is $110 shipped + FFL fee of $15 or so, so let's say $125.
A set of receiver rivets - $10
Ace stock - $65
Stormwerkz folding stock mechanism - $55

An AK needs six US-made 922r compliance-parts:
The receiver and stock would count as two so far.
I'll get US-made a pistol-grip ($20) for a third part.
The last 3 compliance parts would likely be the trigger mechanism (around $32), and throw in a muzzle device of some kind.
interesting!! So what is the ballpark cost for someone to build one of these right now starting from zero parts?

...the pad on the folding stock looks good...any more uncomfortable to shoot that one than the wooden stock? Looks like a much better way to carry in car/truck than full length...is the Yugo one of the better brands???

That ace stock is what I have on my Saiga conversion. I really like it. Easy to get a good cheekweld with, and I think its very comfortable.

Same type of stock on the IMI Galil and semi-auto clones...locks open solid.
