No more super-sized sugary drinks!
No more super-sized Cokes. Forget about 64-ounce stomach-busting sodas at KFC. Even 20-ounce Snapples are on Mayor Bloomberg’s latest heath-conscious hit list.
In a dramatic move to reduce obesity, the city is going to become the first in the nation to impose a 16-ounce limit on the size of sweetened beverages sold in food establishments that receive letter grades from the Health Department, as well as mobile food carts.
The list includes more than 20,000 restaurants, as well as movie theaters, stadiums and arenas.

Government knows best. At least that is what all the young kids graduating High School keep telling me. The indoctrination is almost complete, they just need to wait for us old guys to die off.

As I bought my fountain drink at McD's this morning for my roadie, I looked at the drink sizes. You really cannot believe how small a 16 oz drink is with ice.

If this jerk really cared about people's health he could recommend limiting tobacco sales to one cigarette at a time. There is WAY TOO MUCH tax revenue to do that.

Bloomburg said "we're simply forcing you to understand" - using that logic, are we safe to assume that NYC is going to start making purchases only in $1,000 increments, and that taxpayers will be encouraged to pay taxes using pennies?

He may be on to something, if he's consistent that is...

Speaking of cigs, they said on the radio this morning when discussing this subject that NYC had the distinction of charging $10.00 for a single pack.

I haven't smoked in a couple of decades, but I can remember when $10.00 would have bought TWO CARTONS of cigarettes.

It's all phony. Forget about the fact that it will have no effect on obesity: a milk shake of the same size has far more calories --not banned. Fruit juices, full of calories, not banned. What's scary is reading the comments of New Yorkers about what a good thing this is. Mencken was right....Americans deserve the government they get, and they deserve to get it good and hard.

Apparently, he's confused........

Worried About The Soda Ban? Fear Not, Bloomberg to Support ‘National Donut Day’ Tomorrow
http://politicker.com/2012/05/mixed-mes ... nts-video/
At Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s press conference touting his efforts to stop the sale of large soft drinks in restaurants, one reporter in attendance brought up the interesting fact that his administration also supporting “National Donut Day” tomorrow and inquired as to whether that muddled the mayor’s message on the issue.
But on this he's not confused......he's crazy:

Bloomberg On Soda Ban: "We're Simply Forcing You To Understand"
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/ ... stand.html
"We've got to do something. Everybody is wringing their hands saying we've got to do something. Well, here is a concrete thing. You can still buy large bottles in stores. But in a restaurant, 16 ounces is the maximum that they would be able to serve in one cup. If you want to order two cups of the same time, that's fine. It's your choice. We're not taking away anybody's right to do things. We're simply forcing you to understand that you have to make the conscious decision to go from one cup to another cup," NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg said about his proposal to ban sugary drinks 16oz or larger.
What so arrogance the assumption that people weren't already exercising their choice.
