Well I have finally made the complete transition.
Authritis in my hands has continued to increase & I have retired my 1911. I now carry SA-XD Compact .45.

Whatever you have to do to keep carrying sounds fine to me! Hey, think of it this way, its still a .45acp.

That XD .45 Compact (with thumb safety) is a great sidearm. I kinda' wish I still had one.

Well, I still can operate a 1911 without pain and a .45 ACP is easy for me to shoot. My preferred carry gun is an M&P in 40 S&W. No safety, just point and shoot. 15+1 of 40 is a very comforting to this grumpy old guy (GOG.)

Well I feel in good company then, ended up selling my Kimber 45 because of the same problem. Fortunatly the 9mm EMP is still fine and my wifes 9mm Kimber does not bother me either. Just something about the feel of a 1911 and the single action trigger is keeping me with the platform. On the positive side ya know what they say about messing with old men......

So when is that CDP of your's gonna be on the market?

I had the same issues with my Glock a few years ago. Just could not break it down to clean it. Not bad enough yet to give up my 1911's but I do carry the XD-45 as my truck gun.

LT, I have a confession too....

There's room for another 1911 in my safe, so if you need a place to store that gun of yours, just let me know. I'll be happy to sacrifice a little room in the safe for a brother CHLer.

BTW, as much as I love my Kimber and Sprinfield 1911s, I tend not to carry them anywhere near as frequently as I used to, for much the same reasons. I find my polymer framed guns to be more conducive to EDC these days. I like my M&P45 very much, but I'm trying to justify an XD/XDM45 compact for my carry rotation, for no other reason than vive la difference, and there's always room for a compact double stack .45 in a complete carry rotation. OTH, if I could find an affordable used USP Compact in .45 with the DA/SA trigger and an ambidextrous safety/decocker, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I really miss my old USP Compact .40. I just don't miss the caliber. That's not a condemnation of the caliber in general. It just didn't agree with me personally.........even so, selling that gun was probably a mistake.

Excellent choice Sir. She's no 1911, but at least you've got higher capacity.

I have a full size XDm .40 that I've had cleaned up. (Teddy Jacobsen'd)

While not my EDC (size) in the Summer, it is in the cooler months, and I wouldn't trade it for two "________" (rhymes with "blimbers")

Anyone wanna buy a super nice Colt Agent .38 so I can finance an EMP 9mm?
