Ok..... I'll take a shot......
You were surprised that Holder delivered no documents—forged or otherwise?

I was not surprised at all!
It is exactly what I expected, another "end run". Let's have a "briefing" and I will give you the documents if you stop the contempt vote.
More stalling. Did ANYONE expect anything more?
I am just PROUD that Issa has the "....'s" to keep after the truth.

If any of y'all are of an age to remember the Watergate thinghy, the press was on Nixon and his staff like a duck on a Junebug. Where is that press now? Where is truth, honesty and integrity in today's media? What kind of people have we become?

You KNOW how I feel about the "mainstream media" and "the free press" in this country. They are either complicit with this administration's goals, or they are in denial that they are left-biased. In either case, they are pretty much USELESS, no matter how high and mighty, learned and elite they feel themselves to be. And the lack of coverage of Fast and Furious is simply a SHOWCASE for my argument...

The problem is: what do we do about it? I don't feel very influential about controlling my government by electing better representatives and I sure don't seem to have any power with the MSM. I keep hoping that enough of the Leftist newspapers and "news" outlets will simply go out of business. Unfortunately, that is taking too long.
I suspect that truth and honesty have been gone along time from media. Even in the US, I suspect they have been gone for over a 100 years. Maybe we didn't always recognize it as well as we do today because we have Internet sources.
I didn't figure that Holder was going to provide anything. He is above all of that. I don't think that contempt of Congress is going to mean anything either.

Contempt of citizen? Well that is problematic for those who have to win elections, we get our chance in a few moths.

Fox is reporting that the WH has now asserted executive privilege.

Obama exerts "Executive Privilege" ..

DEVELOPING ...
President Obama has granted an 11th-hour request by Attorney General Eric Holder to exert executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents, a last-minute maneuver that appears unlikely to head off a contempt vote against Holder by Republicans in the House.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expected to forge ahead with its meeting on the contempt resolution anyway.

Well now that is a horse of an entirely different color. Now the white house is complicit. Way to go Mr. President. Remember Nixon, I was not alive, but it was the cover up that destroyed his presidency not the actual original incident. Dumb Donkeys.

I think there are at least two factors at work: 1) bias; and 2) sensationalism --pandering to the lowest common denominator and the basest human instincts. A number of factors have greatly increased sensationalistic pandering since the 70s, and it has been obvious enough even in the last decade that my children could tell the difference from the time they were about 12 until they hit their 20s. The networks no longer practice any self-restraint and are in a race to the bottom with whatever they think they can get away with. We're in our decadent phase and I'm sure you know where that leads.
Bias is a little harder to quantify. I suspect bias has increased since the 70s, partly because older "journalists" and media people at the top have been replaced with the boomer generation, and younger people indoctrinated by "journalism" schools in leftist ideology are more dominant now than in past decades. I suspect the same lack of self-restraint that has facilitated the race to the bottom in other programming has also allowed the leftist bias to be more overt, but the internet has also been a vehicle to expose media bias, so it's easier now to see it even when it's not so obvious.
Fortunately, there are signs that "old media" is incapable of self-control or putting the dissemination of reliable information ahead of their political agenda, and as a result are imploding under the influence of the internet. The destruction of the "old media" can't come soon enough for me.
