I'm in the process of putting together my first AR but I don't have all the needed tools to do so.
What I would like is for someone to take me under their wing so to speak and help me put it together and kind of walk me though it.
I'll have as much done as I can before I come over so it really shouldn't take all that long.
I don't mind driving a little ways to come meet you at all.
I'm still waiting on my lower and the handguard....other than that I'm good to go.
If you have some land I'd be happy to let you be the one who gets the first trigger pull on her.
I'll also bring you some awesome steaks or whatever you want for your trouble.
I'm in the Little Elm/Frisco area.
Experience in AR builds preferred obviously.

Let me see if my son might be interested in doing something like this. I've built them, but I usually just hand them over to him for the harder stuff that takes a little muscle.

the lower is really easy but that front detent can be a real pain the first time.
never done an upper myself though.

You could probably find a certified armorer on ARF or M4C that wants a case of beer and get your learn on. If you closer, I have some coworker buddies that are armorer's. The guides on the AR sites are great too, but having help with stuff like head spacing is a good idea.

I would have already volunteered to help, but I just had my shoulder scoped, so I'm pretty much useless right now, at least according to my wife

If TAM or one of the other members can't get you fixed up, I can help in about 4 weeks. I have all of the tools and I live in McKinney. I also have a build planned, just waiting for the all clear from the ortho.

Curious about the upper, is this a "from scratch" build or are you modifying an existing complete upper?

It's being built from the ground up. Parts are just sittin in the safe.
I'll be all set to go once I get my lower and handguard(both on back order).

Pro tips:

Lower= punch set and tape make things easier. Castle-nut wrench is also helpful

Upper= proper head spacing from factory is easier to deal with. Also having that tool for the handguards/delta ring is nice

Hello everyone, I also have a quetion for you guys. I recentely got my AR built at my local gunsmith, but I got a shell deflector for pretty cheap that I would like to have on. Don't want to return it due to the cpmpany charges 15% for returns . Unfortunately, I have to send my upper receiver back to the manufacturer to have it switched out due to keeping the warranty which is not really the problem. So, I call my gunsmight and I was told I would be charged $35 for labor fee, which is bull. Just to unhook the receiver from the barrel, and then another $35 for when I get the part back and have them hook it back on..So I was wondering if anyone is in the SE/E Houston, Pasadena, Baytown area and would like to help me with this. Due to me not having the tools, and lacking the experience for it. So I also want someone with Experience, and it should only take a few min. So we could talk on here and if we decide to go through with it; then we will do P.M.s.
