I got a Carbon Bushmaster a couple of months ago and love it. Haven't had any issues with it except for one FTE, but I was shooting cheap, steel cased stuff (TulAmmo). The only complaint I have with it is concerning the magazine well--it won't drop magazines freely. I've tried various magazines (metal and PMags) and it won't drop any of them. I thought it may just be tight because it's new, but I've put 750+ rounds through it and it's not loosening up. Since it's carbon, I thought about using some very fine sandpaper inside the mag well, but am reluctant to do that. Any suggestions?

Do it at your own risk IMO.

I wonder if loosening the screw that goes through the magazine release button would help?

Try some silicon spray lube on the inside of the magwell. It stays slick even when dry. I'm thinking that might be a safer alternative to sandpaper. Put the spray on a cloth and wipe the inside of the magwell and see if that helps.

Another thing you might do is sit down and insert and remove a magazine a bunch to see if that loosens anything up.

Steel is cheeper than brass.

Steel cased ammunition is not bad. The steel has never been a problem rather the coating on the case and the primers are what has caused the problems of the past.
