My dad taught me not telling the whole truth was the same as telling a lie, apparently some liberals have quite different values.

Under Texas' law, Holder noted, a concealed handgun license would serve as acceptable ID to vote, but a student ID would not.
The truth here is that a CHL is a valid state issued ID, a student ID is not.
I may not show up at the pools in November to vote for Romney, but I will show up to vote against Obama and his band of merry followers.

I looked for a comment section to point that out, but couldn't find one. Maybe you've gotta log in or something.

Ummm.. any feelings for/against Holder notwithstanding, how are you and he not saying the same thing? You both agree a CHL is a valid state issued ID. You both agree that a Student ID would not be a valid state issued ID.

As soon as he said that, he should have been shown the door and transported directly to the Texas State line.
We have to put up with this from DC but we don't have to listen to it spewed in our own State.
His intentions were clear. Being that he would instill the idea that a Texas CHL is undesirable (including for voting).

We really do need to come up with a communist exchange program with Cuba.
We round up American commies, like Holder, Obama...Jane Fonda.....and do a 1 for 1 exchange with Cubans who would like the opportunity to work and earn a living in a quasi-free nation.
Our commies can take all their wealth with them to subsidize their new Cuban utopia.

Because, IMHO, Holder makes it seem as if the two types of IDs are equivalent legal IDs, but that its simply the meany authorities keeping the young folk down by not allowing them to use their student IDs...but the two IDs are NOT legally equivalent...BTW, a person can get a Texas issued ID card that IS legal identification.

The correct answer is
The Federal government doesn't accept a student ID for flying (TSA) or buying a gun (ATF, NICS)
So why should Texas allow voter fraud by accepting student ID for voting?

Check out the article in full or watch the video so you can see how the audience gasp when he mentions "CHL."
Holder is saying it saying that he can't believe how unfair it would be that a CHL would be accepted under TX law and a student ID wouldn't. This is just part of his comment on why he will fight TX on this law.
I am saying that it makes perfect sense that a State Issued ID would be accepted and that any other ID (i.e. college idea) would not be.

Of course to the elitist, statist mentality being a student (after all, most progressive thinkers are academics, right?) is considered a much higher calling, etc... than actually being a producer in society, particulary if you are a student not making a living on your own. Coupled with how evil it is (to that mindset) for people to legally have the ability to protect themselves, it is only too obvious that the comparison should be made, using the liberal media to further the accepted group-think views.
Seriously, I am not sure anyone in the entire current administration can do a single thing without considering how it will further the statist agenda to eliminate individual liberty and the rule of law in this still-great (for the moment, anyway) nation. Peril for ourselves and our nation is all around us now. It wears a suit, smiles a lot, and really believes that it knows best. I believe TAM said it most succinctly, "They are evil."

I think he's just pandering to one of the groups well known for being stupid enough to vote democrat in the first place. College kids can be naive, and they can get into the mindset of hearing something and immediately storing it away as fact (as if in preparation for an exam) without questioning the legitimacy of what was said. This goes for most not all.
I can hear it now "Did you
know that in
Texas someone with a concealed handgun can vote but a college student can't ?!". A college ID is about as legitimate as a Sam's club card.
Group "think" is giving them too much credit.

The major missing element in the student ID discussion is that there is no qualification to be a citizen of the United States to get a student ID. I know that Mr. Holder would very much like to change it on several levels but voters in the US need to be citizens of the US.
We have students from foreign countries all of the time in our colleges and universities. That's fine. They all can be issued student IDs as they should be. But those students cannot vote here any more that I could hop a plane and go vote in a French or a Pakistan election.

Well, you don't need to be a citizen to get a CHL either.
