Yesterday I saw this story out of Jacksonville, FL about a "flash mob" of 300+ animals participating in what appears to be an all out riot/party/destructive food fight at their local walmart. Previously that night the police had broken up their party, and these people reconvened at walmart to continue their fun.

I've been contemplating this over and over again, and I just can't imagine what I would do in this scenario if I found myself suddenly in such a situation with my family in tow. Aside from avoiding going out at night, what can one do if suddenly faced with such huge numbers of potentially violent individuals?

In a store like that, I'd be going through the fire exits at the back. A group that size, unless you've got a belt fed and a fire team your best bet is to remove yourself from the area.

Suddenly my 31 rounds of 9mm for my daily carry doesn't seem as comforting.

Get away or get out and avoid confrontation. Pretend to be sympathetic if necessary to safely escape. Confrontation wouldn't be smart even if we had a legal system that would support it.

Avoid places where the potential for trouble like that exists. Know where the emergency exits are. Get out at the first hint of trouble. A fully equipped police riot squad would have their hands full in that kind of situation.

They must make their parents and community so proud of their accomplishments............

Dunno, but if their attitude really does become widespread, there won't be a society much longer.

A nice M60 would be nice to have.

Seems i read someplace, an armed society is a polite society.

Excellent points. From what I'm reading online, that Wal Mart isn't in a great part of town, so that takes care of your "avoid places like that" idea.

I agree 100% on the right way to handle it. Get out the back door. If there's a mob like that, I don't care if its an "employee only" area or not. Remove yourself from the area in the quickest and easiest way to do so.

It never occurred to me to go out the back door, but you're right, that's probably the best solution to a terrifyingly bad scenario.

Now if this had happened at the Jacksonville, TX Wal-Mart, it probably wouldn't have lasted long, eh?

Perents aren't teaching their kids how to act right. They are more concerned with being their friend and living their own life.
