It's not a Kimber Ultra Raptor II but I like it....

I held out buying my next pistol so I could save up the money for it. I really wanted a Kimber Ultra Raptor II but I just don't like the $1400 price tag. Everytime I went to buy it, I talked myself out of it. I really like the 1911 style. Well today I saw this and I bought it. I really like it, it feels good in the hand. I'm sure this is little .45ACP is going to give me a jolt considering I'm used to shooting 9mm. I'm anxious to get it to the range but I won't be able to go for another week.

The RIA guns and any 1911 made by Armcor in the Philippines are some of the most under appreciated guns on the market. They are good solid reliable guns at a fair price.

The recoil of .45 ACP is more of a shove than a kick. Put several hundred rounds through it before expecting 99.999999999% reliability (nothing is 100%. ;-) ) Enjoy your new blaster! :fire

Thank you! I've heard really good things about them. A few of my friends have the full size models as well and they've never had a problem with them. I still like the Kimber (awfully pretty) but if all I've read is true, for the price and the reliability, one cannot go wrong in buying it. Now I'll need to get a small bank loan for the ammo. :biggrinjester:

By small bank loan do you mean a small amount of money or a loan from a small bank?

Be sure to field strip it and give it a good once over to remove all the shipping grease and lube it up real good. A 1911 runs best wet, not dripping, enough oil to feel when you run your finger over the parts.

I mean small amount of money, I thought small banks were extinct..

Thanks for the tip. I have a Para that doesn't require much oil so I would probably have under oiled it.

I have the same pistol and the big brother. I have never had any issues with either of them. They both shoot great with just any ammo I have used in them. My compact has the bull barrel in it as is my EDC.

I have the RIA and have had a Kimber of the same size. The RIA works every time. The Kimber would not go into battery at least once every 20 round. I don't have the Kimber anymore.

I think you'll be surprised at how soft shooting it is. The alloy framed 3" Kimber I sold was very easy to shoot, and your new gun has a steel frame, weighing more than the Kimber. Like Mojo said, .45 ACP is more of a "shove" than a "snap," and many of my female Basic Pistol students have actually found it easier to shoot than 9mm because of that. So you should probably have a fairly entertaining time shooting it.

I have the same model - bought it as a base for customization:

# hard-chromed slide
# wilson combat nite eyes tritium sights
# polymer trigger
# slim grips with chrome grip screws

Thanks everyone. I'm really excited to shoot it and it's a darn shame I have to wait a whole week. I've already looking at customizing it. I have an idea for the grips if it isn't a complete disaster, I'll post pics. Thanks TAM I appreciate that. I have girly hands and girly strength (probably has something to do with being a girl  ) so I was a bit nervous. My officer size 9mm Para has an alloy frame but the recoil is negligible so I figured I could handle more recoil. Besides I've seen ladies much smaller than me handle larger calibers without a problem.

this was my "starter" 1911. i told myself that as soon as i get proficient with it, ie. shooting/detail cleaning, i will move on to the higher end 1911. after a year and a half, i can't seem to let it go. it runs like a champ!!! . i recently brought it in to my LGS for a detail clean, when my GS opened it, he said," man that's a nice 1911..what is it a SIG?" :thumbs2:
