Glock 19 Questions/Problems...

Hi Guys,
I have a Gen4 Glock 19, and after shooting and cleaning today, I have a couple things that I wanted to toss out and invite comments from those more experienced than I.
First, my spring assembly will not compress. I can't get it back in the firearm. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a fix other than having Glock replace the spring?
Second, I've noticed a line of marks above the striker on the breachface. The face still feels smooth, and scrubbing with nylon brush soaked in solvent did not remove them. I've attached a photo of these marks. Is this normal or something I should be concerned about?
Thanks!

1. Is this the first time you field stripped it? The spring assembly in the Glock is fairly stiff and not easy to compress outside the gun. Also, be sure it's oriented correctly because the slide won't cycle if the assembly is backwards.
2. The brass ring on the breech face is typical but I haven't seen lines/scratches like that before. I have a few Glocks, including a well used Gen2 G19 with some wear on the breech face, but not like your photo.

No, I've had this gun for a while and have shot/cleaned it quite a few times and the spring always behaved.
Anyone else seen those marks?

I wouldn't worry about the marks. I know the Gen 4 guns have had a spring issue , check

I don't know anything about Gen 4s except their springs are different and a few other things changed.
I can't tell about any marks.
I only had my Glock 19 since 1989 and shot it in the 1980s and again in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010
When it gets around to needing cleaning, I'll look.

kidding, I cleaned it a couple times. I cleaned it with Hoppes solvent and dried it after shooting last time.

Glock is sending out a replacement spring assembly. Will take ~2 weeks.

Some marking on the slide are casting marks. if the slide is investment casted like so many are and then machined sometimes these are not always eliminated due to tolerances of thicknesses

Well the good news is that on my first range outing in over 6 months, I didn't do that badly. You know, at first I was thinking wow I'm rusty, things are a little low-left, need to work on my grip and do some dry fire to work on that.
Then I looked over at the guys in the lanes next to me... Turns out I didn't do all that bad after all.
Maybe this recoil spring thing taking the Glock out of service for two weeks is nature's way of saying the XDM needs my attention. Or maybe its a good excuse to get that 1911 I've had my eye on....

I have similar lines/scratches on a very used Gen. 1 Glock 21. Never noticed them until you posted this, not sure if they were there from the beginning or from wear.
