I was running late for work and completely forgot to leave my Bersa .380 in my car.

So im up in the office which i share with my boss and i take off my jacket. Im sitting there for a while before i need some file at a cabinet on the opposite wall from our desks.

Im down on one knee as i bend over and grab some files and it comes to me all of a sudden. I felt so naked and knew my gun was exposed IWB 6 o'clock. before he even says anything i look around and apologize that i forgot to leave my gun in my car.

He says, "you know your not suppose to have any weapons on you while at work", " but dont worry about it ".

I was so relieved. Then he says "You rednecks" with a laugh.

I just remembered that he's from Florida and is probably pretty comfortable with seeing someone with a handgun.

I thought about explaining to him that i was legally carrying, but i didnt want to mention anything else to him if he didnt have any questions about it.

I finished doing some work and later put the gun in my car.

That was really scary for a moment. :)

No that's the type of guy to work for! I suspect in many companies you would have been escorted out the door and been given your severance pay. I know where my wife works, she would have been fired on the spot.

Glad it turned out well!

I'm glad this guy was good about it all.

I tend to be on the goofy side (I work on it, but it's just in me). I'm afraid that I'll forget and wear my gun into the school. (Can you say lockdown?)

I'm so accustomed to feeling that bulge on my side, and it feels weird when it isn't there. MOst of the time, I put it in its safe before I ever leave my driveway. (I know this isn't the best thing to do, but knowing that I sometimes lack common sense, this is the best thing for me.)

It would be great if my boss' were like that. Our mine has a "no guns, alcohol, drugs" policy for employees. I agree with the drugs/alcohol but the guns issue ticks me off (although, apparently, not enough to quit and go elsewhere). I don't know if any/how many have firearms in their vehicles but I do know that if the company did a vehicle search, especially for alcohol, we'd have alot of job openings. They also have a sign posted outside the front gate which says "No Alcohol, No Drugs, No Firearms Allowed on TWCC Property". It's neither a proper 30.05 or 30.06 posting and I haven't told them either. That's their responsibility to post properly, not mine. ;-)
