Governor Rick Perry has issued a unilateral proclamation to recoginze Nebraska concealed weapons permits:

Let's hope that Nebraska is able to get its laws changed so that they will be able to recognize other states as well.

The good governor has unilaterally honored lots of states that don't return the favor. I sure wish some of them would. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

The question is; how will the fact that pistols have to be registered with the local CLEO in Nebraska affect a Texas CHL if we gain reciprocity? I have a friend from Nebraska and when she moved to Texas she asked how to register her pistol in Texas. I told her that Texas does not require pistols be registered with the local CLEO. She said that the Nebraska CLEO in the county she lived in told her that she was required to notify them that she had registered her pistol with the new CLEO. She stated that she was told that failure to do so was a violation of Nebraska law. Don't know how accurate her information was but it is something to ruminate over.

Why would she worry about violating Nebraska law when she lives in Texas? Personally I wouldn't care about their gun laws up there anymore but that's just me.

Maybe she wants to visit family or friends still living there?

If I'm not mistaken, the Governor of Nebraska was opposed to the Concealed Carry Law, and vetoed it, but was overridden by the State Legislature which is unicameral, by the way (one body, no Senate no House just the Unicameral).
They had the toughest time overcoming obstacles in getting it passed and I'm sure they are trying to get to the point of reciprocity. Just a matter of time, I hope. I have family up there.
