Does anyone know how to remove the barrel of a Marlin model 27S? I have one I want to get re-lined and the guy doing it told me that I can remove the barrel easily and then just ship that to avoid having to deal with a FFL dealer. Plus shipping would be much cheaper.

:tiphat:

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the 27-S a takedown model? I believe there is a lever on one side of the receiver and a screw on the other. Loosen the screw, flip the lever down and your rifle should come apart in two pieces. The barrel, magazine, pump and reciever plate half should be able to be mailed without a FFL. Image
I would let the gunsmith remove the barrel from the reciever and reinstall it.

Thanks! I'll try it out later today.
