I am thinking of getting one of these to keep around the house for my wife when I am not around. Also she is getting her CHL soon and initially this may promote her to carry more being small and all and having 8 round capacity. I figure 8 rounds of .22 is better than a stick and she is leaning toward a revolver. She did qualify with a full size 1911 with no problem but she would never carry one. Anyone have any suggestions as to a type of .22 (ammo) for what I have described above?

I am aware of every ones feelings on .22 as a SD round but I figure it is better than nothing. Maybe after awhile I can get her to step up to a .38 LCR which I have and like better than my 642. Thanks

i had the same experience years ago. my wife didn't like the lcr .38(oh well, it's mine! ). if it's staying in the house(for now),
how about trying a sp101 .357 and shoot regular .38. With the added weight, my wife was able to handle it quite well and practiced more with it. now she can shoot both the sp and lcr38.

CCI 40 grain Velociter and/or Aguila 60 grain subsonic. In my experience, CCI 22 stuff has the fewest misfires.

The Aguilla 60 grainers penetrate better than any other .22 round I have ever tested (mostly in 2 X 4s). Altho they may be somewhat unstable out of the short barrel and tumble upon impact. Which might not be all bad.

If she does step up tp the .38, you might want to look hard for some 148 grain wadcutters, often about the mildest recoil on the block - and punch a clean "cookie cutter" hole of at least .357".
