First Carry

I received my CHL yesterday and made an excuse to go to Wal-Mart which was hijacked by my wife who wanted to go to Kroger instead. I put my Springfield XDS in its over-sized sticky holster the Bullet Trap sold my wife, shoved it in between my t-shirt and jeans, put on a regular sized black Addidas polo shirt and took off. After reading a book by Pircilli (sp?) on Influence, I realize most people live in their own world never noticing things around them so wasn't really concerend about being "made" on my maiden CC voyage. My wife didn’t even know I was carrying until we got home and I took my shirt off and removed my weapon.
I am convinced that nobody, accept probably LEOs and other professions where they are trained to notice things that are out of the ordinary, pay attention to bulges under peoples shirts. Maybe if I carried my Sig P226 I would need to enlarge my wardrobe—literally—but with the XDS it just disappears under a normal, untucked shirt. Works great and since the first 50 rounds were shot through it haven’t had a single FF o FE in 450 rounds I have shot through the weapon.

Congradulations.
My first stop, first day carry, was the BANK

I chickened out and left it in the truck. I was brave enough to leave the tuckable holster on though

I make it a point to carry in banks that are not posted, and I haven't seen one that is yet.
Those are dangerous places, just read the paper or watch the news.
Your chance of being in a dangerous situation increases when you go into target rich environments; banks and convenience stores top the list.

Totally agree. My bank is not posted at all or it would'nt be my bank. Seemed to be a bit much for my first at the time.

Understandable. Banks were not my first public carry destination either, I did the wally walk.

Kroger huh?
They sell alcohol and drugs there.
My first day I went to HEB the wine aisle, and Walgreens for drugs and to the bank.
The next day may have been to church or the school parking lot.

Very nice first day. If the XDS is similar in size to the G27, then yes, it will be difficult to spot under loose fitting regular sized untucked shirts. I used to CC IWB a G27, but have since switched to .45's and have yet to change out the shell on my Minotaur to try IWB with the slightly wider G30SF. I know a few guys around here that carry this gun IWB, so it must be okay, but I just haven't tried it yet.

Congrats on a good first carry!
I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on the XDS. Have mostly 9mm in the stable, but as of late thinking about a .45 for EDC. My first instinct would be to look at the PM45, as I have two other Kahrs and enjoy carrying and shooting them. Any additional feedback on the XDS when you get a chance would be appreciated.

I'm currently in process of completing my first carry. Glock 17 in a Fobus owb paddle, covered by a 2x button down shirt. Not even a second glance anywhere I went...which was a pretty lengthy excursion.
Wally-Wolrd Walk
E-recycling at Best Buy (including loading a computer & other electronics from the car at the far end of the parking lot).
Hair cut at Sports Clips (including the shampoo & hot towel)
Stop in at Starbucks

Currently?! Talk about concurrent documentation. Nice day for a first carry. Way to go TexasCajun.

Excellent choice. I'm quite fond of my G17 as a daily carry.

I'm working on breaking in a Beretta Nano as a light-wear alternative.
