I am posting this in off-topic but if it is better placed elsewhere please feel free to move it.

I recently became aware of a project to help raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project and to help an enlisted military member who was wounded on duty. The project is sponsored by the 1911enthusiast.com forum that was founded to expressly to raise funds for WWP. 1911enthusiast.com came up with the idea of commissioning a set of Colt Custom Shop 1911s that supporters can buy. A portion of the purchase goes to the WWP. Additionally, a sponsored veteran, a Marine named Jessie, will get one of these pistols for free. You can learn more about the project, the pistols, and Jessie on http://1911enthusiast.com/showthread.ph ... -Number-2/ and http://1911enthusiast.com/showthread.ph ... #post12744.

As a vet and as someone who was about to spring for a CCS 1911 anyway this project seems like a win to me. Feel free to PM me if you would like contact information. You can also find information on this project at

Three years of waiting paid off:
The pistol showed up. Here is a picture of the bushing from EGW.

That smudgy looking thing on the bushing is actually an engraving of the last three serial number digits.

The patience really paid off:

And have a look at that test target!

The aim is set POI=POA.

Before you consider giving to the Wounded Warrior Project please learn more about them so you know what kind of organization you are giving to.

Their charitable giving record is less than stellar. Less than 60 cents of every dollar they collect actually goes to helping vets. They are also extremely litigious and have actually put other veterans charities out of business with their law suits.

Uhm, yes, that. The WWP portion of the project failed to get off the ground for, shall we say, reasons. However, the goal of getting our selected vet a pistol in recognition of his service and sacrifice remained.

I'm confused.

Bizarre as it might sound, I think WWP is anti-gun?

Is that right?

If so, WWP and buying a vet a 1911 doesn't reconcile if they are actually anti-gun, so please, someone clears this up.

Am I mis-informed?

Are they anti-gun?

I have tried to link my website to WWP, and state that a portion of my proceeds from my training would go to them. I was told that they want no affiliation with anything firearms related. My contributions now go to Paralyzed Veterans of America.

I understand the confusion.
As far as WWP being anti-gun, they claim they are not:

I am satisfied that claim represents their position. According to that claim, you are misinformed about their gun stance.

If I am misinformed about their not wanting to be associated with firearms, then I was personally misinformed by someone at their national offices that I spoke to.
They "claim" not to be anti-firearms? I have heard that same claim from Obama and Hillary Clinton. I believe more of what someone does than what they claim.

Listen to the broadcast and draw your own conclusion.

I came away convinced they are anti-gun, but their spokesman did much verbal squirming and dancing to try to say otherwise.

Baloney!

In addition, their spokesman tried his best to dominate the conversation with filibustering, trying desperately to stop the host from getting in a word edgewise, which I found very annoying and discreditable.

BTW, while the show runs over 40+ minutes, the WWP portion is only in the first 20 minutes.

I recommend listening to it.

Here is an editorial Tom Gresham wrote after that interview.

Does the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) have a bias against guns and gun makers?

It would appear that WWP is now a leftist organization.

Another article on just how bad this organization is. http://dailyheadlines.net/2015/11/wound ... t-so-much/

Total income: $342,066,114.00
Total that went to actual wounded warriors: $804,393.00
Total pay for the top three executives: $1,104,795

0.2% of their income is spent on veterans. 0.3% of their income is spent on the salaries of the top three executives.

The amount of that spent to help is typical of so-called "charitable organizations".

Doubt me?

Look at the salary of the top executives. They'll try to convince you to get high quality people big bucks must be spent on them. Bull Manure!

Spend your charitable dollars directly on your family members, neighbors, and community.

Stop throwing your money at big organizations.

It's a scam...
