So I just took my BUGs out of my pockets and was going to just carry the Glock so I could remove it in the parking lot ...

Glock 17,17RTF, 19,26,34,22 with thousands of rounds and not a failure yet, aside from using a KCI magazine. This serves as a reminder that it is time for a mishap FTF/FTE, time to carry my LCP or .357 as a BUG. Thanks

I change all of my recoil springs out with Tungsten Guide Rods. It has a 15lb spring. I have never broke one, but I always carry two pistols.

Being a G27, this was actually a dual-spring assembly with metal rod (not the single spring polymer rod assembly of the larger guns). The baby Glock recoil spring rod has always been metal, similar to the new Gen 4 larger guns

The breakage came from the metal "lip" for lack of a better word folding back over on itself under spring pressure - weirdest thing I ever saw.

I guess math really is reversible because I was taught this the other way. None = 1 and 1 = 2. This is the premise they teach cops when looking for weapons on a suspect. there is always one more than what you know about or think is there.

And I fully support this version also. Always carry a backup. Even if it doesn't break, the fastest reload is an already loaded backup.

In the days when NYPD was only allowed to carry revolvers, this was known as the "New York reload."

It was MUCH faster than trying to dump shells and get six more rounds into the chambers in the middle of a firefight.

This reminds me that I still need to get that second (and probably third) holster for my PPS so that it can perform it's original intended function as a bug instead of just being in the normal carry rotation.

I guess then it was the atmospheric pressure, or sunspots, or my cologne that made my wife's G19 jam a couple of times at the range.

That was funny. In all seriousnes though, Glocks are extremely reliable, but they are just mechanical devices—very well designed mechanical devices (except for that cartoon grip angle)—and like any other mechanical device, they can fail.....just maybe with less frequency.

The key takeaway from the article:

Don’t trust your life to any mechanical device!  All mechanical devices can fail!  One = None.  Plan for breakdowns and embrace the concept of redundancy. 

I guess I'm big enough to admit I've been wrong. I need to get back to carrying a BUG.

No. Way.

Guess that's why I decide to carry my 23 and its little sister both in .40s&w with 2 15 rd backup mags. Is that a little overboard for a daily outing to Wally World or HEB?
