Well, I finally got my hands on a 1911 Hi Standard MADE IN THE PHILIPPINES. I've been wanting a Phil. made for awhile just so I have something from my mother counrty. It's made by Amscor and aside from some mag feeding issues ( of course! but fed well and shot flawless w/ my Wilson and Tripp Cobra mags) I am very happy about it EXCEPT FOR THE SIGHTS!! my old weary dominant left eye can barely see the front sight and the rear sight looks like you are peeping thru the eye of the needle!! I am not looking into investing in night sights, visible iron sights will work for me. This gun is for range use only.I will aprreciate any ideas aside from going to my gunsmith and pay at least half of what I paid for the gun. Also if you have some 1911 parts that ended up in your "gun parts bin" because of upgrades, I might be in the market for those e.g. recoil rod..spring plug, barrel bushing ect..

Thanks ya'll!

Here's a pic!! Carlson 1, your friend Jon is a wonderful person. Sure nice to meet him.

Rey,
Jon is a good man and a good friend I am glad you got to do a deal with him. If I was you I would have the slide cut for a set of Wilson night sights.

If you don't want to incur the expense of machining the slide for Novaks, Wilsons, etc., Kings has sights that fit the GI's slides without remachining. The King-Tappan sights are no-frills basic carry sights that are much better than the originals.
