I really could not make up my mind on an AR not to mention the freaking wait time of online sells. Local "builders" wouldn't return my call etc. Had no real plans about 2 Mondays ago. Wife goes "lets go to the mall." she spent a little bit then goes. "lets go to Anna (liquor store) and swing into walmart to get your rifle"
So I didn't know Cabellas priced matched but the gun was 352 plus tax at wally world, scope was on sale plus rebates was under 300.00 priced at 319.00
so here she is Ruger American 30-06 Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 mil-dot.
I hope to get into some long range shooting and have this be my primary hunting rifle. I have been dieing to post this since I bought it. I havent taken it to the range yet. There is a range out in Leanord with a 500 yard target set up I plan to get to. am reading up on MOA and how to range and use MilDots in the mean time.
I have wanted this rifle since it was released and had not realized the growing popularity of it. The guy at Cabellas has one and with handloads got "sub-MOA" groups with it.
So far I have read it doesnt like to throw heavier grain bullets accurately. So I have bought Winchester bonded 180g and Federal Fusion 180g with intentions on getting 2-4 more boxes of 180 and atleast 4 boxes of 150 grain.
Any tips or guidance is welcome. Thanks for all the help given to me about the AR and scope searching. I have a pretty good solid idea about what I want now and it is no longer a "budget build"
