Ok in my earlier post I had asked about the 938 or emp 9 but I ended up with a hk usp 9 compact new in box traded a xdm 40 for it, cost out of pocket under 300 also got 4 mags with it. Anybody got a recommendation on a holster I plan on shooting it today make sure no problems pop up, I haven't seen any complaints on this gun so it should be good to go.

You better take that one back and get a refund. Looking at the pic, it looks like the chamber has exploded.

I carried a USP Compact .40 for a while, and it's the same size as the 9mm. For IWB, I tried various holsters, including a Galco Summer Comfort, but ended up relying on the Minotaur MTAC from Comp-Tac......which is a lot like the Crossbreed Supertuck. My favorite OWB holster for it was a Desantis Speed Scabbard. I liked it enough that I bought one each for my M&P45 and my wife's Glock 19.

In fact, if you're left handed, I'll sell you mine since I don't have the gun any longer.

Hee Hee. I used some filters to pump up the details a bit.

My rGrizzle is at the USPS right now with a delivery date of Monday!!! If anything like the others, it'll be perfect and I'll post some pics.

Nah! It didn't explode that is paper to cove the serial #. Went and shot 100 rounds and flawless, at 25 yds it was grouping right at about the size of my fist with a few where I was trying to see how long the double action trigger felt.
I am definitely happy with my choice will put 3 to 5 hundred rounds in it before I will carry it.

Yeah, my .40 was really reliable, and I liked the 2nd strike capability with the DA/SA. I liked that gun a lot, and if I had bought it in 9mm or .45, I'd still have it. I only sold it because I was trying to simplify my caliber picture.

Well sorry to say that i am not left handed, but will definitely look up your suggestions. I also am getting down to 2 calibers 9 and 45 even though I think I will keep my sig 238 it fits in my cargo shorts very well and easy to conceal. And you can't count the .22's those are for fun plinking or steel shoots and not breaking the bank on ammo.

I carry my G19 in this daily, and it is a great holster. Made right here in Texas as well. When I carried a snubbie IWB, I used a TT Gunleather Mike's Special, I liked it a good deal as well.

I would say if you walked away with an HK for what you had in the other, and you like it, and it works for you, then you did great! Enjoy your new piece, and happy carry to you, friend.

If you want my honest opinion, I think trading a striker fired pistol for a SA/DA is moving in the wrong direction. For your trade, I would have offered more than $150 on top of the XDm and even that is stretching it.

However, if you like the HK, it is a solid choice. I'm an HK fan, but I prefer the P7 models for 9mm pistols.

The P7 is a beautifully engineered pistol, but it has a drawback that I consider decisive for defensive work.

The squeeze cocking mechanism is LOUD. When you grip it, it makes a "clack." When you relax the grip it makes a "clack." You won't notice it on a range, but when you're trying to either keep someone from finding you or maneuvering on someone who doesn't have your best interests in mind, you'll notice it for sure - and so will he.

You can avoid that issue by keeping your grip on the gun relaxed until aiming to fire - and risk dropping or having the gun knocked from your hand during an accidental impact or during a fight.

If you elect to accept the first "clack" you are holding a cocked and unlocked pistol with a single action trigger pull - not a bad thing if you're disciplined about rule 3, but full of unpleasant surprises for those who are not.

I won't quibble. I like my striker fired pistols a lot......and I came originally from the 1911 world. FWIW, my old USPc had ambidextrous safety-decocker levers, and I could carry it cocked and locked or hammer down DA/SA. I actually liked that versatility about it. There was another thing I liked about it, and that was that the polygonal rifling made barrel cleanup a breeze.

The one thing I didn't like about it was the heavy gritty trigger in DA, and a gritty sloppy SA trigger. I improved on it somewhat simply by replacing the OEM 14 lb hammer spring with an aftermarket Wolf 10 lb hammer spring—a modification which cost me about $3.95 from Midway and about 3 minutes of my time—and that lightened things up quite a bit, but it didn't take the grit out of it. I just kind of got used to it after a while.

All of that said, I am curious as to why you attach additional monetary value to the striker fired Springfield over DA/SA HK, when the retail market seems to favor the HK with the higher price—whether new or used? For example, when I bought my all black USPc at Sportsmans Warehouse in 2007, I paid $749 for it. I bought my stainless bitone XDm-45 Compact 3.8 from Academy a few months ago for $699, and they were selling the all black model for $649—an even $100 less than a 5 year old price on an HK USP Compact.

....or am I misunderstanding what you meant?
