Man I feel stupid...

Well I took my brand new Marlin 795 apart this evening to lube it and test all functions necessary before I take it to the range this saturday,
First I loaded up the mag and cycled some ammo through it... works just fine.
Then I took it apart, cleaned it a little and applied Ballistol on the moving parts... Put it all back together, try the slide and its smooth... test the safety and it working... make sure chamber is empty and the mag is out and pull the trigger... NOTHING.

Now I am thinking what did I not assemble correctly... so back apart it goes and I look at how it works and what operated the trigger... I try it manually and the dang thing works. Three hours pass and I am still looking at it and then I see a little metal lever right next to the mag hole. Then it hits me, dooooooh it won't fire without the mag installed. So back together it goes, I again make sure the chamber is clear and no ammo in the mag, cycle the action a few time just to double check there is no live round there, and what do you know.. with the mag installed the trigger works just fine.

So yeah three hours of work gone, however I now know exactly how this rifle works lol. That is all, carry on.

Wonder if there is a fix for that (like the HiPower Mag Disconnect).

 So, I'm not the only one to do this.

I thought a 9mm gun of my dad's was malfunctioning, so I took it to a gunsmith that checked it out and said he couldn't fin anything wrong with it. I brought it home and was going to shoot it, but wanted to clean it first. Found the take down instructions on the internet and discovered the magazine safety in those instructions. Doh!

My dad had never fired this gun and didn't remember it having a magazine safety.

It is part of being human and we have all done similar things more times than we care to admit.

With various guns ... I have had to do the Youtube search for when guns look funny after cleaning like "Why is the trigger facing the wrong way?" or This must just be spare parts they include in case of breakage later, probably not needed ...like when I have parts left over n stuff
