Next time someone calls a semi-auto AR-15/AK47 as an assault rifle, you can show them this video.

That should be a mandatory video for CNN anchors before they get to sit at the desk!

Excellent video!

Unfortunately, many of those who use incorrect terminology do so intentionally to mislead. Many of those who are ignorant, choose what to believe based entirely on faith and will not be swayed by facts. It was easy to imagine somebody watching this and saying..."OMG, this officer should be fired for showing people how to make a machine gun"

That said, education and the truth are still the best path.

Have the "Myth Busters" ever taken on this subject?

I would like to see this link/video made into a "sticky" reference in the appropriate thread up there...

We need this to quickly reference to, from this website...

We are really going to need this kind of stuff in the near future...

Gee, and I thought the mainstream media was out to get us. ;-) We are winning this battle, we need to be vigilent, but we are winning.

That's a great video. Sounds like he investigated and reported the truth of the matter instead of going off of personal opinion or any sort of bias.

Even he got some things wrong on the video...."fully automatics can only be purchased by the police and military" (thats not correct)
They are Illegal/outlawed....not correct either, they are controlled and Taxed by the gun control act of 1934...if you live in tx,over 21, dont have a record, and go through the ATF Form 4 process/ pay a one time 200.00 federal tax on the weapon(you too can have one (if you have the money of course) same goes for sound suppressors, and short barreled shotguns and rifles.

I would like to see a version that was totally correct...but that would probly just confuse the heck out of a person that had never heard such.

It was not allways forbidden by california state law to own full autos in that state...thats why you had places like Stembridge gun rental that supplied full autos for the movie industry.

Another problem I had with it is that he spends the first several minutes explaining full auto assault rifle v/s semi auto, then at the end of the video asks a retorical question about how do you define an assault rifle... his reply is "I don't know". The contridiction here just hurts my head.

BTW, the NRA ILA page does have a definition...

ASSAULT RIFLE
By U.S. Army definition, a selective-fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power. If applied to any semi-automatic firearm regardless of its cosmetic similarity to a true assault rifle, the term is incorrect.
