I just purchased a Spike's Tactical complete multi-select lower with all magpul goodies. This is an awesome start, but I might change the trigger. Have to wait and see. This is going to be the base for my 300 blackout build. I have ordered the matching Spikes Tactical upper, and am looking for a Stainless heavy barrel. There is a lightweight modular rail (can't remember the manufacturer off hand, but it looked like it would be a good fit.)

I am going with one rail on the upper that continues forward. I will probably go with Daniel Defense irons and an eotech (already have three others, so why not!)

I will post pictures when I get further in.

Lowers are getting more scarce in the Houston area. If the traffic volume in my "non-storefront" gun store is any indication, business must be good right about now.

What is a "multi-select" lower?

I will probably build this suppressed also.

All of my other rifles are all black, so I am a little bit intimidated by this build. I have to actually care how things "match" and "look" more than with my others.

I guess this is my "diversity moment" with rifles! With my other builds, black always matched with black.

You will love the build. This is my 300 blkout that I just finished last week. It based off of spikes punisher lower and upper. I love the way this rifle shoots over any others I have right now. It's my third spikes build and it is well worth the wait to get the set. Can't wait to see your pics.

I see you went with the stainless barrel. Who did you go with? Local shops are all out on stock, so I will probably have to get it off the net.

I know this might sound at odds with each other, but I want a heavy stainless barrel and have everything else ultra light.

I plan on using the break off of the Rock River Operator Elite. I have loved it on my RR factory rifle.

So many choices....

I just hope I don't build a beautiful weapon this is impractical to shoot in the real world!

I went with the ar-stoner since they were the only ones available at the time along with sota barrels. I don't regret it one bit. It's the medium profile barrel and its really nice and the low profile gas block was a really tight fit it also has a dimple for the set screws pre-drilled into it. You will appreciate light accessories once you put that stainless barrel on. I bought the yhm rifle length free float for that reason. I have been duracoating stuff and I was going to go magpul fde everything but decided since its a punisher and a blackout build might as well keep it black and stainless. I also went with the fail zero bcg to match the barrel. It looks sharp with my 762sdn6 but now all I need is to get the stamp so I can cut the barrel down.

I was out shopping for parts for the build today.....geez. There is a major gun show in town (which a friend went to and he said it was a traffic jam, you couldn't even get to the tables). I went to three shops where I shop, and everyone was out of barrels. 6 months ago they were everywhere. There were quite a bit of people in all three stores compared to normal.

Maybe I picked the wrong time to do a build!

I looked on the website and found both the normal Stoner stainless barrel and also saw the "light" version from Stoner. Is it really going to be much of a difference in weight? Also, are there any drawbacks to the "light" version?

I don't like pencil barrels looks, especially with a suppressor attached. Some say the barrels heat up faster on the thinner profiles but I don't really know. The medium profile looks pretty nice and the weight isn't to bad.
