Renewal or new Application?
Don't expect a status update on DPS website for 3 weeks from the date they received your packet. Then expect about another 3-4 weeks of processing time.
Get comfy. My seat is almost available. You can have it.
Application submitted: 10/2/12
Received by DPS : 10/4/12
Background under review: 10/23/12
Background complete: 11/08/12
Manufacturing: 11/09/12
Mailed: 11/10/12

New application. Yeah I have heard that they take their time. I also heard that there are only 2 people that work in that department.

Expect at least 45 days. Take your mind off the anticipation...it helps, but isn't easy.
