Sure are purdy. Congratulations.

When I knock the sprue off, I put it straight back into the pot after each cast. Helps me to keep a more consistent temperature if I add just a little lead back each time instead of getting a whole pile of sprues built up and then dumping them all in at once.

Once my mold is hot enough to move the sprue plate with my hand instead of a mallet, then I just hold the mold up over the pot, twist the sprue plate and drop the sprue back in all in one motion.

Good suggestion, Jumping Frog.

Also, if I may suggest...I can't tell if you did this, but...dropping them straight into a metal pan isn't really ideal (causes dents). I've always used a cardboard box with a folded up towel as a "landing pad" for my boolits (.58 minies, in my case)

P.S. - Congrats!! :thewave

Nice.....

I see you opted for the Lee handles on your Lyman/RCBS mold..!!
Thats what I use also...I like the extra length of the handles, plus the Lyman handles don't fit my hand very well.

I also like to use a towel to drop bullets onto.

Ps...I bought a 105gn .358 SWC mold to cast light 38 special bullets with the other day and will cast some tomorrow evening. Can't wait to try them.
Someone referred to them as "Bunny Fart Loads" on another forum "rlol"

Good reminder. Yes, I do that too. I've got an old towel that has been used for bullet casting for years. Needless to say, it is never going into the washer or being used for any other purpose.

They're not for ACP. They're for .45 colt.

I just realized you boolit makers are artists.

All that effort would be drudgery were I doing it and the results would probably be so-so at best, but you that do it with such enthusiasm, ah now, you're artists as the results testify!

And like artists in any medium, we are proud of our work.

Here is some of mine:

They're gorgeous!

Rather than shoot them, they could be used as jewelry!
