A friend of mine asked me to help identify this pistol. His Grandfather gave it to his father, and believes it is of German origin. It is possibly Pre WWII, but he is not sure.
The markings are F.L. on the grip, and on the side of the upper frame. I have searched Google and Wikipedia with no luck.
TIA!

24 minutes.. not bad...
Wear and tear often resulted in the retaining yoke and screw jumping free, allowing the breechblock to blow straight back into the shooter's face.

Where the heck is the ejection port on that thing? I can't see where the spent casing is ejected.

Awesome guys! Thanks!
It says the gun was never sold commercially. Interesting.
Any ideas what it might be worth. It is in reasonable shape for its age! ;)

You might try jumping over to the View From the Porch ( booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com ), and shooting an email with pictures over to the site's owner, Tamara. She's rather well-informed about some of these weird and esoteric pistol designs.

It's an assault pistol made for the battlefield, not suitable for the streets of America, and should be immediately confiscated.

The ejector port is a magical one and the spent brass lands in a secret room at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
