Shortbarreled Shotgun spotted...

Have you ever seen one of these???
http://www.amny.com/news/local/newyork/ ... 6056.photo I'm 99% certain I saw one lastnight.
I went over to Top Gun lastnight to do a private class for a security guard who wants to join our Tuesday night group. On entering the range at 6:45pm, I spotted three guys in the number six lane acting weird, even for geeks on a shooting range. As a certified computer geek, even I thought these guys were rather odd. The shooter looked a lot like a cross between the sloth from the film Ice Age and Napoleon Dynamite. The videographer looked like Mr. Magoo with a comb-over. The third guy had a striking resemblance to Sacha Cohen's character, Borat.
Anyway, with Borat watching and Mr. Magoo running the camera, Napoleon was holding what appeared to be a 5-Cell, MagLite flashlight with the end cap conspiciously pointed downrange while speaking into the camera. I also spied a funky looking ring toward the end cap on the MagLite, may be four to six inches up the body from the base cap. I never actually saw these guys fire this thing but I noticed three cloverleaf like shot patterns on their target at Napoleon looked back to his friends seeking approval. I saw no handguns to account for what appeared to be three to five 9mm size holes in these relatively tight patterns. None of these characters acted as if they shot enough to generate groups as tight as the patterns I saw with any kind of handgun.
I told the guys working the counter they should investigate but never saw anyone take action. The guys were gone by the time I finished my lesson so I never got a closer look. Now I've got to go back to the shop and get JT or the owners to pull the video to see if these clowns checked in properly. Top Gun doesn't have any problems with Class III stuff but it is expected one will bring proof of a paid tax and the related forms with them. But, there is a good chance these three musketeers were in possession of illegal firearm. Also there was a recent change in policy to the effect of basically not allowing shotguns except to those known by the owners and management to be competent and unlikely to shoot up the range equipment.
