Got rid of the Glocks. Carrying a 1911 now and loving it!

The first pic is from when I first got it. The second pic is with the slim Alumagrips on the gun. I really like the gun and the new grips.

Very nice. Nothing looks better on a 1911 than a flush magazine. I'm a big fan of the Alumagrips also.

Permit me to say this on behalf of Longtooth; he would be reticent: You rock!

I own Glocks and (a new) Springfield XD. But 1911s are slimmer; and easier to conceal because of it.

Truth be known, I really liked my Glocks, but I reached a plateau with them and couldn't quite make that one ragged hole with them.

I got this Springer and managed it my first trip to the range. I now own two 1911's, because I have to have a backup in case I need to have my primary worked on for any reason.

Now I gotta sell my Glock holsters so I can get another Tucker for the 1911's.

I'm in Oklahoma City right now. I flew here Wednesday evening. This was my first time checking the Springer at the airport. This was the first time the TSA guys (the same guys who always checked my plastic guns) took the time to look at the gun and compliment me on it.

So there are more than a couple of benefits to carrying one of these. There's nothing like standing there BSing with the TSA about guns while other passengers are putting their bags under the rope for their inspections. Some of the looks were priceless!

I too love my 1911's. But also the Glock and XD45.

The 1911's are easier to conceal but I shoot about the same with all of them.

I like the looks of the original grips too, but the thin grips carry so much better.

I ordered a second set of Alumagrips for my other 1911, which is a low budget Rock Island Armory GI model.

The RIA needed a replacement slide stop, which Armscor provided quickly, free of charge, with no questions asked. The Springer needed the feed ramp touched up slightly.

Since then I have a little over 2000 rounds through the RIA and a little over 1200 through the Springfield with the only failures caused by my failure to fully resize a few of my handloads.

I'm comfortable carrying either pistol, and (believe it or not) the RIA actually shoots a smidge better than the Springfield. The Springfield will be getting some trigger work to remedy that.

It may be the flash, or my eyes, but the first picture looks like a stainless model while the second is obviously parkerized... In any event, nice choice!

Wish you were up in my neck of the woods. We'd take her out for a stroll.

More often than not, 1911itis is terminal. They earned my trust long ago. I now have four. You'll fall more and more in love with it as time goes by.

You made a great choice!
