“We are also looking at a buy-back program,” Feinstein said today in a press conference. “Now, again, this is a work in progress so these are ideas in the development.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., already discussed the possibility of a buy-back law for his state, but he made clear it would be a forced buyback.

“Confiscation could be an option,” Cuomo told The New York Times yesterday when discussing semiautomatic weapons. “Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”

Australia implemented a mandatory buyback program in 1996 following a mass shooting. “The law banned semiautomatic and automatic rifles and shotguns and put in place a mandatory buy-back program for newly banned weapons,” USA Today recalls. “The buyback led to the destruction of 650,000 gun.”

I bet it was a typo they meant. an offer you can't refuse, instead of $2,000 per gun, Uncle Sam would offer $500 during the forced mandatory sale to the State buyback.

$500/gun, times 300,000,000 million guns, equals $150,000,000,000............. that's right $150 BILLION. Heck, it would be only $60 BILLION if they paid only $200/gun.

EVEN IF A MAJORITY IN CONGRESS WERE WILLING TO PASS THIS LAW AND THE PRESIDENT WILLING TO SIGN IT, how on earth would they fit it into the budget? Raise taxes more? Does anybody seriously think that democrats are willing to pay higher taxes so that the government can use the money to buy guns?



And that doesn't even begin to address whether or not I'm willing to accept less than 50¢ on the dollar as compensation for having my 2nd Amendment rights crushed under the nazi boot heel of democrat perfidy.

That's because there is no more reality in the gun grabbing than there is in the fiscal cliff or anything else that the panty-waist politicians seem to be involved in. Several years and a lot of money were spent on the outing of Valerie Plame. The Lewinsky mess was another huge, useless diversion. As soon as they are faced with a hard problem like the $16T debt, the politicians seize the news of the day and turn it into a calamity in order to further their own political power and to avoid having to make difficult decisions. Why wrestle with not having a Federal budget for 3 years when you can grab some ARs and claim victory?

I can't sell any of mine back as I was on the annual TX CHL forum raft trip and unfortunately lost everything I owned when we hit some unexpected rapids. Sorry to all the other members that had the same very same problem.

I'm wondering when and where the forced mandatory buyback will be. I want to take pictures and videos of all the people who do not show up at the little-attended event. I'd sell mine, though I'd need the money and can only provide a bill of sale and she'll have to retrieve them herself, sadly, I was in my kayak out at the oil rig 5 miles off the coast and ... This was pre-hurricane so the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico Sands may have shifted some so a large magnet may be needed to find them ... I was so upset that I didn't even catch one fish that day, all my bait went overboard too.
