With the Democrats now controlling 2/3 of the power in Washington I figure now is as good time to go ahead and join the NRA and or the TSRA.

Any reason to pick one other the other? Opinions on either? I am of course more familiar with the NRA.

In regards to both, does either sell membership patches (or do you get one with membership? I would like one for my motorcycle vests.

You really should choose both.

The NRA will really work for you primarily on a federal level.

The TSRA will work primarily for you at the state level.

Go ahead and shell out the cash for both.

Join both. NRA is in Washington & helps w/ the states.
TSRA needs the funding also.

...allocating financial and human resources most efficiently on nat'l. and local/State level. Ex....US Court of Appeals (DC ) re: home ownership of handguns in DC actioned by the NRA....

Castle Doctrine for Texas worked on by the TSRA....

I have to agree with everyone voting for both!

Remember that the NRA has an Associate membership (no magazine included) if the funds are tight.....every little bit helps.

Another vote for both. I'm still paying off my life membership in the NRA. When that's paid off, I plan to start on a TSRA life membership for the reasons stated above.

I would also vote both, but understand that you may need to make a choice due to funds.

I would probably say that the TSRA is slightly more important as I see the state as a more important battleground right now. More of what the state does will directly impact your daily life, such as CHL, Castle Doctrine, etc.

But, if the feds get a new assault rifle ban in, then the state has no say in the matter. That is why both are important.

I paid for the life membership in the NRA first, but it was years ago. As soon as I can, I am going to start on the life membership in TSRA as opposed to the yearly I have now.

For what it is worth.
I won't give either a cent. They ignored the one party that always stands up for the RKBA is part of their platform. Hopefully someday they will recognize and rate us. Alternatively one can send money to the campains of the folks that are gun friendly, and also politely let your Congress Critters know where your support lies.

I just joined the NRA, working to pay off the life membership. When it is done I will start on the TSRA life membership. This is something that I should have done years ago. But at least I have started. I see that the way this country is going it is better to stand with other like minded people then to stand alone.

Please put me in the BOTH catagory.

When they find a politician that votes our way, they support them.

Both organizations send stickers when you join. They don't cost extra. However, you can buy everything from caps to pajamas with their logos.

TSRA membership fulfills one of the requirements if you want to buy a rifle from through the CMP . . . though with the supply of better-grade Garands exhausted, that may be less of an inducement today. (They're going to be selling some M1 Carbines soon, though . . . )

Liberty's point, which is absolutely correct, is that this is only true for Democrats and Republicans. Libertarians, even those in office, can't buy the time of day from them. Even Ron Paul has had problems for being "too pure" on RKBA, and not supporting "reasonable" restrictions.
