Hammer Assembly - S&W Model 36

About a year ago a friend dropped my wife's Model 36 and broke the spur on the hammer (firing pin in hammer). I've been looking for a replacement but most places I have found online are out of stock or have some variant like the competition hammer (short spur). Does anyone here have the hammer assembly or the ability to complete the repair?

Thanks All.

I live in Flower Mound so anywhere in the metroplex is doable.

Why not just call and order the part from S&W and drop it in yourself?

Wouldn't be a problem to do it myself, but S&W did not have the assembly I needed. They carry some J-Frame assemblies but it was either the one with the shortened spur or the one that was the faced hammer for internal firing pins.

I guess I could try calling them.

That's what I would do. If they don't have any, maybe they could direct you to a aftermarket provider? :thumbs2:

Looks like Brownells has several different S&W hammers in stock. I don't know which is which to see if they have the one you are looking for, but you could check with them.

It appears that it is MD'ed by S&W http://www.midwayusa.com/product/918733 ... 7-240-blue" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Brownells also shows to be out.

eBay has this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/smith-wesson-ce ... 3a7d04a73b" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and two different sets that include additional parts http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=sm ... &_from=R40" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Located in Irving just south of the mall off Beltline. Open Tue, Wed and Thu and will likely be at the Market Hall show this weekend.

Check Numrich http://www.gunpartscorp.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I like a spurless hammer on my snub noses. Is the hammer broken so badly the gun is inoperative? If it's OK to shoot then maybe take a Dremmel tool and some files and reshape the hammer a little to enhance visual appeal and keep using it. Or, take it to a gunsmith and have them do it.
