Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.
Interesting view point. I hadn't thought of it that way.

I hope the author isn't right, but I will not be caught unprepared. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Doesn't the stock on every rifle serve as a heat shield?
So a ruger 10/22 would qualify as an assault rifle under this definition.
