I need some legal eagles here.
I purchased some Hexolite 32 slugs for possible use in Hog hunting.
They seem to be a very devestating rounds.

I also thought, well, for home defense or if the zombie a problem arises senario happened they'd be great.
My buddy asked me about their use in home defense at the civil trial later?
I hadn't really thought about that.
What are some educated thoughts on keeping this ammo in my Rem 870.
I can easily put the 00 buck back. But is their a difference?
00 buck is some mean stuff also although more readily available.

What's the difference between "devastating" and "very devastating?"
What ranges are you going to be dropping zombies? 20 yards? 50 yards?
For use on human bad guys, you might have a hard time justifying shooting a threat that was 50 yards or more away, unless it was an Olympic sprinter threatening you, or had one of those Glock shoulder thingies that go up, etc.
I'm far from expert but my take is that there is enough nasty coming out the barrel of a 12 gauge that you don't need much more ever.
What is the attitude of the likely jury pool about such things? Are they sympathetic to defending oneself and family from predatory threats, or more worried about extraneous factors, like "he was just turning his life around?"
Isn't it kind of like putting tennis shoes on a cheetah?

By Texas Penal code law, if the shooting is justified as clear-cut self-defense incident, then the shooter is immune from Civil liability.
Note: I am NOT a lawyer, however, this is my understanding of CHL law.

Just an idle thought here, but if I were on a Grand Jury I'd have no problem with a man who was so concerned about the safety of others that he went to the expense of using expanding slugs instead of plain regular slugs to limit over-penetration.

Buckshot has a pattern ie. the pellets spread; obviously slugs can't.
Well, once they go in they spread a little.

I load my mossberg 500 with Hornaday TAP 00 Buck shot. It is low flash (so to speak) so you don't blind yourself and holds a very tight pattern. I have tested it on a steel pattern board to verify the spread and if your target is as close as he/she would likely be in your home not many of them will miss the target.
