NOPE,
1) First he would register any firearm that has to be register to gain access.
2) Or, Steal one
3) Or, Buy one from a gang
4) Use home made explosives. As did the Aurora shooter.
Bombs kills more than firearms, let us ban bombs! Good luck with that.

Yea and we can ban cars too since there have been several foiled attempts at car bombings! What we need is a Pre-Cog from that movie the Minority Report, that way we could incarcerate the person BEFORE the crime has been committed. I bet a lib thought up that one.

Once you set your mind to do something, you make plans and you carry it out. These sick people do just that. They will work around any law or ban that has been passed.
I live about six blocks from Poe Elementary School. Six people including three children were killed by a father who brought a briefcase filled with explosives to the school playground. He asked the teacher to have the children "gather around him". Only brave work by the teachers and the principal who was killed, prevented a much larger death toll. The blast was so large that they were not sure the bomber was killed. The National Guard protected other grade schools until they determined he had been killed.
This man said he brought the "power" and "will of God" to school that day.
Sick people do not obey laws.

minority Report was a short story written by Philip K. Dick he also,
Blade runner(do andriods dream of electric sheep) and Total Recall (We can remeber it for you wholesale), where based off his short stories. Also the less successful A Scanner Darkly, Next (the golden man) and Paycheck.
he was heavy into the use of amphetamines and was a paranoid schizophrenic

and to top off the aurora murderer, we learn now he had been doing recon for at least 6 weeks and had messed with the exit doors prior.
built a bomb detonator and left it at the dumpster hoping someone would pick it up and try to play with the radio controlled car that was next to it.
I dont think all the gun laws in the land would have stopped this nut. He actually, even though he is a sicko. Did a remarkably good job at planning and follow through. I doubt anyone would have have been able to predict his actions.
he is trying for the insanity defense, but....he premeditated for weeks. so i doubt that will fly

Providing some liberal lawyer for the ACLU doesn't get him off the hook

Perhaps you found him quickly.
While I have no knowledge of the ins and outs of the local law, generally there is a difference between the defense of insanity, and that of temporary insanity, by whatever label the latter receives locally.

I never have understood the insanity plea..........to me it really doesn't matter if your sane or insane, you HAVE to pay for the crime. The full extent of the law.

The joker in the Batman movie was no insane person, just cruel cold-blooded killer of the first degree. Note, the wanna-be joker, the Aurora shooter, planned to be looked at a insane or mentally ill to play the legal system and prevail and get a get-out-of-jail card.
I would say send him to KSA and let his head roll and while everyone is watching. Case is closed.

Guys, I think we are all on the same page on this.
But we're beating the dead horse into the ground. (meant respectfully)
Anyway to combine all the threads regarding this topic?
I think there's about 10 or more now.

Maybe move the thread to a new sub-forum in the Political Issues.

The media doesn't show all the cases out there. I worked 2 school shootings that were back to back in 2001. In the first incident, the suspect was armed with a 22 caliber revolver. He had shot 17, with 2 dead before he was taken into custody by my beat partners in under 6 minutes (our team was working). He was in the bathroom reloading at the time and didn't want to take on a deputy.
In the 2nd incident I was on duty working overtime in the beat next to the school (another day I wont forget about 2 weeks later). The suspect was armed with a shot gun and handgun. He had shot 5 before an officer that was already on campus (adjoining jurisdiction and they had all responded to ours) came out of the office and immediately opened fire in a brief moving battle. He successfully stopped the suspect. I was there to see the suspect being a loud mouth because he was shot and in pain. For a while we thought there was a 2nd shooter and we worked on victim rescues, ect.
Working one is bad enough, but 2 back to back is something I will never forget. NEITHER of those cases had assault weapons. In both cases ARMED LEO's stopped the threat. One by taking the subject into custody at gun point and the 2nd by shooting the suspect.
