Yet another battlefront....
Honestly folks, if you've not yet joined the NRA, what are you waiting for?

BOSTON (AP) - As lawmakers cast around for ways to curb gun-related violence, some are hoping the insurance market might offer incentives.
A bill filed Friday in Massachusetts would require gun owners to purchase liability insurance in the event that a firearm is used to injure.
The insurance policies would give those injured by a weapon a legal recourse, backers of the bill say, but they also would create financial incentives that could reduce accidents and fatalities. Gun owners, for example, might see lower insurance rates if they agreed to take firearms training courses and properly stored their weapons.
"Insurance companies were able to discourage smoking through the marketplace and make cars safer through the marketplace," said state Rep. David Linsky, the bill's sponsor.
<snip>
"It's time that we think about alternative ways that we can effectively deal with gun violence," the Massachusetts Democrat said. "We need better research. We need better understanding. We need to try different approaches to protect our children."
And just as a reminder.....
"The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation. " -Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler, Publ. Houghton Miflin, 1943, Page 403

Would be considered an infringement, the same as a poll tax?

Can we please resolve to do a little more leg work on researching sensationalist quotes like this? It only gives fuel to the libs to call us out on how ignorant we are. Hitler did not say that quote and I'm pretty sure you won't find it in the publication you sited. Hitler did write the first sentence of that quote:
The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people.
But the rest of it came from an imaginary letter written by Rabbi Daniel Lapin in 2004 about what Hitler "would have written" if he were alive to write it in the present day:

That just shows how stupid these lawmakers are. Didn't any of them go to Harvard Law Shool right there in the back yard?
Nobody is going to write insurance that covers you against your intentional acts. Liability insurance is for damages inflicted on others due to negligent acts or omissions.
So, if you negligently used a gun, an "ND" to be precise, you'd be covered. But if you hauled out Old Smokey and blasted someone on purpose, no coverage.
Hey, wait a minute! Is this some sneaky trick to get people to send money to insurance companies for no coverage at all?

Well, it is Massachusetts. Just look how they inspired Obamacare.

So now the BG's can get money from the insurance company if you shoot them. Brilliant.

This is ridiculous. If you shoot someone without justification, you have legal remedies, battery to start with, if it is malicious, then perhaps punitive damages. Insurance companies will cover not one dime of that, unless it is clearly negligent, and no punitive damages unless it was grossly so and then some.
If you hit someone with your car, it is probably carelessness, etc. but if you intentionally ram someone, the insurance company isn't involved. Liability insurance excludes intentional conduct.
Fire insurance excludes arson, deliberately setting your house on fire.
Is the BG going to claim that the shooter carelessly thought he was a BG, but really he was just turning his life around?

True.
However, acting in self defense isn't an intentional tort. The other party's actions were intentional, the insured's actions were simply a legal response to their actions.

An insurance requirement might actually backfire on the anti-gunners, since the actuaries would discover that guns owned by law-abiding citizens are very rarely used in actual injury shootings, and the premium would be so small as to almost not warrant the effort. And criminals would not bother to get the insurance anyway. And the know-nothing reporters would never ask "Did the (criminal) shooter have the mandatory insurance?"
Contrast my vehicle's liability insurance portion, which is only about $120 a year for $250,000 bodily injury, and this is covering me and my 3000 lb machine (the truck) in which I hurtle down freeways every day while juggling coffee cup, cellphone, steering wheel, notepad, and stickshift, dicing with big rigs, grannies going a careful 45 mph, casual lane-changers, not to mention my fellow cellphone chatterers.

California Proposes Gun Liability Insurance Mandate
http://conservativeread.com/california- ... ROwA2eC9X0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If they can’t completely ban guns, at least they can try to “price gun-owners out of existence,” as Sam Peredes of Gun Owners of California put it. California Democrats are trying to force gun-owners to purchase liability
insurance to cover damages or injuries incurred by their firearms, kind of like car insurance. Part of the legislation would give gun-owners lower insurance rates if they keep their guns locked away in a safe at all times. An NBC affiliate in San Diego reported on the Democrat legislators’ stated motives for their bill:
Would my fire insurance rates be lower if I keep my fire extinguisher locked away in a safe?

I am sure they would want you to list all your guns and serial numbers. Its just another form of registration.
