This story wraps up nicely all the things that are wrong with the present system.

Most of the problems with guns come from the lefts coddling the rights of criminals and the mentally deficient. This contributes to the peril of all the good people out there and OUR rights. Lets get this stuff straightened out and leave the honest hard working, their rights intact. Want to bet the liscensed dealers up there sell more felons and mentally ill guns than the unlicensed sales at Texas gun shows do?

Enforce the existing laws don't foist more laws on us that as Eric Holder has stated the Feds don't have the time to enforce already. If they did some Deputy US Att'y would find a way to indict his boss. Surefire carreer suicide to be sure but some one at DOJ needs to grow some and try it out, who knows maybe they would figure out it feels good putting really bad guys away for real gun trafficking.

They said they found a "Tommy Gun" but despite looking long and hard at the picture I couldn't find one anywhere.

Jim, I believe the one that's being held is a Tommy Gun. Sure looks like it.

Single action no doubt.

You mean semi-automatic?

What Olson's deputies found in the home was chilling: 13 guns, including semi-automatic rifles, an AK-47, a Tommy gun, assorted shotguns and handguns, including a .50-caliber Desert Eagle.
I counted 15. Nine rifles and six handguns.

The dude in the article was already a felon and known mentally defective...he should already have been blocked. Using that guy as an example for NEW laws is just dumb...what he does is highlight how badly they need to ENFORCE what is on the books now. :mad5

I'm certain it's been pointed out before, but I'm gonna do it again. Be very, VERY careful talking about mental illness as a reason to deny someone their Second Amendment rights! With the proliferation of "disorders" added to the vernacular every year (Attention Deficit, Oppositional Defiant, various "mood disorders," etc), it would be extremely easy to start calling nearly everyone "mentally deficient." I would venture to guess that almost ALL of us were "clinically mentally deficient" at least at one point in our lives (teenage hormone-addled years). Once you allow the nose of the elephant into the room, once you admit that elephant's nose is a good thing, it becomes much easier to bring the rest of the elephant in. Start by declaring any schizophrenic patients "unsuitable." Then schizo-typical. Then bipolar. Then oppositional defiant. Then attention deficit. And since symptoms often swing much, much harder when a patient goes off medications, and we cannot force patients to take their meds, then we can never trust ANY "diagnosed" person, for they may relapse at any time.

And it WILL affect more than just the truly insane. Had a bad bout of depression two years ago? You're ineligible. Had an anger-management problem as a teen? You can't be trusted. Were you irritable and irascible while you were quitting smoking? You're obviously a ticking time-bomb.

Do you disagree with the government? Do you want to impeach the president, or Congress, or the state legislature? You are obviously Oppositionally Defiant, and probably have some other form of mental illness too, because only a crazy person would disagree with our benevolent overlords...

Far, far better to accord even the "crazy people" their basic human rights, -INCLUDING- the right to self defense, than to open the door to ultimate confiscation under some specious "Public Mental Health" excuse. Don't think they'd go that far? Neither did the Americans of Japanese ancestry, rounded up in WWII for the simple sin of having eyes shaped differently, or the wrong name in the "parent" slot on their birth certificate.

The "crazy people" know just as well as gov't officials that unarmed people are more easily ruled. This is why they go after "Gun Free" zones. How about we drop the whole idea of taking ANYONE's guns away, and instead press for the complete restoration of our Civil Rights, to include those guaranteed by the Second Amendment?

Don't fall for the elephant's nose.

Add ADHD to the list.

According to the NRA, Joe Biden says the administration doesn't have the time or resources to prosecute current offenders. So let's add some more laws, shall we?
