This guy shouldn't be in the legislature. He should be in a mental facility.

As I said before every legislature has its idiots. Today was lobby day in Richmond VA, and several thousand gun rights advocates were on site to try and talk with the delegates. Morrissey was hiding and sent out his legislative assistant to take the heat.

Another one of our "winner" Legislators literally covered his ears when my husband told him that safe gun handling was so simple he could ask my five and seven year old the rules of safe gun handling. He was blathering on and on about people needing to prove to the state they were competent gun handlers before they could buy a weapon. Really....you cover your ears....I don't let my three year old do that to avoid hearing things he does not like. My husband was not advocating for seven year old to shoot gun without supervision (of course) but was trying to counter his insanity that one needs a college level course to be a "responsible" gun owner.

Seems like he should be arrested for having the gun in his possession.

Apparently we have a law in VA that he can't be arrested for just about anything he does in session. Ordinarily he could be arrested for brandishing and for having a gun in the assembly without having a VA CHL. But he's special. People here in VA are really annoyed and irritated with him and his stunt, but it did backfire. His bill was DOA.

When they have a roll call in the VA Legislature, he isn't sure whether to answer "Present" or "Not Guilty!"

Too funny. I bet. Why his constituents keep electing him I will never know. He was hiding today or we would have dropped of an Eddie Eagle gun safety pamphlet for him.

Does that law allow him to be arrested after the session ends? I can understand a limited protection to prevent political foes in LE finding convenient reasons to arrest a legislator before a key vote. But he should eventually have to answer in an honest society.

I think (what I was told by a lawyer in our VA group) is that the laws of common use are somewhat suspended during a session. Much like in a football game you can attack someone and get a penalty where otherwise you would get charged. Same sort of idea. It is what it is.

I thought it might be something like that.....but even if there wasn't any such law it probably wouldn't matter, just like it didn't matter for Gregory.
