Seattle Holds Gun Buy Back, Turns into Gun show!

People that had arrived to trade in their weapons for $100 or $200 BuyBack gift cards($100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and $200 for assault weapons) soon realized that gun collectors were there and paying top dollar for collectible firearms. So, as the line for the chump cards got longer and longer people began to jump ship and head over to the dealers.

The best part of the whole article though:
John Diaz, Seattles Police Chief, wasn’t pleased with the turn of events stating “I’d prefer they wouldn’t sell them,” but admitted it’s perfectly legal for private individuals to buy and sell guns, FOR NOW. Mayor Mike McGinn said at a news conference the private transactions are a loophole that needs to be closed.
So now it's no longer a 'gun show loophole', the new term is 'Private Transaction Loophole'... god forbid 2 people sell something to one another without big brother in the middle.

Freakin' hilarious. Sounds like what happened at the Dallas gathering the other week.

I hope San Antonio has a buyback so I can clean up like these lucky Washingtonians. Just think I could pick up an AR for like $250 and a Glock 17 for another $100. :evil2:
It would be the best day ever

Can someone please explain to me how one can "buy back" something one never owned in the first place? I've been trying to figure this out for years.

I don't see why we can't organize our own gun buy-back program, where the guns actually get used/raise money for good causes, instead of getting destroyed (As with Usual Govt run programs)?
This might actually be a good plan, hear me out. I think we all want to get illegally used & stolen guns off the street, correct?

So, get the TSRA(or other group) to have one for people that have guns, but don't want them, either through inheritance, or who knows what.
TSRA(Or Other Group) works a no-questions-asked turn in deal with the police. TSRA(Or Other Group) offers small sum for them, LE gets to run the ones that come in for lost/stolen, and keep any that match.
Some people might end up with their stolen guns back. - Win #1
Of the ones that aren't stolen/wanted in a crime, instead of destroying them (as is usual for these programs), TSRA(Or Other Group) gets to keep them, and auctions them off for funding afterwards, and uses the funds for training/grants/other beneficial things! - Win #2!

Thoughts? I dunno, just came to me, I'm sure there's problems with it, I just think that a gun 'buyback' program run by a non Govt Agency which results in the non-destruction of firearms, and possible funding for the org might be a good idea.

It just does not get any better than that. Only in America!
