They have been flying over Miami for years, this is a first I've heard of them firing blank rounds.

Don't mater what they fired, where did there brass go?

My conspiracy side tells me that they took down a terrorist and used real bullets.

My realism side tells me that if this were the case, Obama would be on the news patting his back right now.

If you ever watch "The First 48" on A&E, you quickly realize they are not flying over the "Pork & Bean" district and the surrounding area. The gangbangers would probably shoot them down.

Army training exercise in Houston alarms residents... ~> Video

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- SkyEye 13 HD was over the south side where at first look, it appears there's a massive SWAT scene happening. People have been calling police, as well as our newsroom, saying they're hearing gunshots in the area of Scott and Airport. It turns out, the Army says, it's a multi-agency training drill. They're doing it at the old Carnegie High School. if you see the helicopters or hear gunfire, it's only a drill.

We live in VERY scary times.

I don't worry about the military training for urban warfare in "abandoned buildings" (although I thought they had adequate mock cities set up all over the country). What concerns me is the "multi agency" issue. So civilian LE is doing joint training with the military? What's wrong with that picture?

What do the cities of Houston and Miami have in common? Has anyone heard of this sort of thing in say, Fort Worth or say, Little Rock, Arkansas? Not tinfoiling, just trying to look at it from a just-the-facts perspective.

I would think if this was to fit in to some of the conspiracy stuff, wouldn't they do this away from public eyes?

The conspiracy angle would be that they are now using drills to 1) scare or intimidate the public or 2) desensitize the public to the military operating domestically, instead of running these exercises in seclusion. Removing my tinfoil hat.

I forgot about the tinfoul hat thing. That was until Sign's was on tv this past weekend.

Last week the local SWAT team had drills in the nieghorhood. We have several LEOs living inthe neighborhood. They did not shot or make noise. No aircraft. The utility trucks were called out. Why are they having national training week? Is the goal to turn the LEO into national response teams? What is homeland security planning for in the future.
