Anyone have the S&W M&P 22? I would like to hear what you think about it. I'm interested in purchasing one but plan to test it out first.

Very nice 22. Real AR in 22 cal, unlike the mossberg which is just a perfumed pig.

As long as you mean the M&P15-22, I have one that I bought for my daughter. We both like it a lot. It is a lot of fun and just goes and goes and goes. We probably have close to 1000 rounds through it and haven't had one problem yet.

I have the m&p 22 pistol and it works just fine. I really enjoy shooting it, compared to the 9 its very close. The m&p 15-22 ar on the other hand, is on my wish list.

If you're talking about the 15-22; I read a lot of good reviews so I bought one. Took my boys out to shoot it. So much fun, I bought another. And more mags. Right before the insanity. It is GOOD TO GO! If you can find any .22lr ammo for it

I have the rifle in green, it looks pretty cool. First time to the range I put about 800 rounds through it without even one hiccup. It fires as fast as you can pull the trigger and its cheap fun.

On the 15-22 rifle, the only issue right now is finding mags for them at a reasonable price. Most people are trying to get 5X or more the original price for the mags on Gunbroker or eBay.

I don't own the pistol, but a good friend has both the M&P 9 and the .22. They are NOT the same gun and the trigger on the .22 is much different. He likes the .22, but just don't expect it to be similar to the higher caliber models. Renting one and trying it out before buying it is a good option.

We bought an M&P 22 handgun about three weeks ago and when trying it on for size at the LGS, it felt wonderful in my hands and more importantly dear wife's hands. It's great having the 22 that feels almost exactly like my M&P 9c.

It was a bunch of fun to shoot and very reliable but it seems to be grouping a little low and to the left in spite of the rear sight being adjusted all the way to one side (but it was a surprisingly tight group.) Before I blame the sights, I need to check it while shooting from sandbags.

Field stripping it was way easy - a very pleasant surprise.

My sole complaint is the thumb safety - it is not nearly as smooth feeling as my 9c and there is resistance for the entire travel arc when operating it - way different from my 9c.

Couple of factoids:

The M&P 22 is made in Germany by Walther (I believe S&W owns Walther?)

Magazines are hard to find for it (no surprise there) and too expensive, but I did find one at 44mag.com - it was a 10 round version that is easily changed to a 12 round. If you have a 10 round magazine, push in the little detent pin on the floor plate, slide off the floor plate and remove the little aluminum spacer that sits on the bottom of the spring. You now have a 12 round mag with about 20 seconds of effort

I was surprised to see the end of the barrel was threaded, there's a great reason to spend $200 and apply for a suppressor license.
