Has anybody here found the "one gun" for them? By that, I mean have you found the one gun that fits you well for concealed carry, home protection, and range shooting?

For me, I'm close but not quite there. My home defense and range shooter is a 4" Taurus 65 in .357 Magnum, and the one that gets most holster time is a 2 1/2" Smith 19-5, again in .357 Magnum.

I'm starting to think I really need a 3" wheelgun!!

Just curious to see if anybody out there has found the one single firearm that fits the whole bill for them.

I think you are right. I need one too.

What does need have to do w/ it??
Needs always come before wants. If I need it that makes it a front burner project.

Guns are tools. different guns are meant for different use.

A near perfect may be a MP5.

Any 1911.

Despite being only 5'6" and 130-135 lbs, even the Government-size conceal well with me, with a few exceptions, and any 1911 is a hoot to shoot.

Practically, though, I'd have to narrow it down to my Kimber Ultra Eclipse II. It's easy and fun to shoot (range), conceals -very- easily (carry), and with the combination of night-sights and 1911-pointability, makes an excellent house pistol.

Oh, and it's got a -factory- ambi safety.

Thane, how do u conceal your 1911? I'm the same size as you. Holster carry?

Any "gun" that can give me "MoMJ" (Minute of Milk Jug) accuracy to any threat presented to me that requires a reasonable deduction to the immediacy of dispatching said threat...

That's a tough decision. It would have to be either a Glock 17 or a Model 10 Smith for me.

The perfect gun for me is the one I have on me when I need it......

However, I just purchased a Sig P229 in 9mm, and so far, I have been the most accurate with that pistol out of any I've shot(aside from the M9) and it is a complete joy to shoot. Can't wait to get mine in and get some trigger time.

for me its the 1911 goverment. im 5-9 190 pounds and it conceals very well for me.

I've been thinking about that lately in my search for another pistol.

My "needs" for the one gun are :
1. It must fit solid in my hand. When my hand is travelling at a few ft/s, I want to be sure that I don't miss the draw or it goes flying because I didn't have a good handle. I have XL hands, so Bersa .380 don't work for me.

2. It must have as few moving parts as possible. Less probability of something holding up the escape of the round down the chamber. Personally, I don't care for a grip safety or trigger safety.

3. I'm partial to steel, but would take poly if they had my other requirements.

4. It must make alot of noise.

I am not quite positive yet but I think my Kimber Tactical Pro II might fit the bill. It is a 45 and has meprolight tritium sights on it so I like it as a bedside gun. It conceals very well so it makes a good carry weapon. And it is fun to shoot at the range. The only drawback is that it is a little big for pocket carry. So when I need to pocket carry I will go back to my Kel Tec P 11.
