It said something about improperly or unmarked firearms. I have a Mosin Nagant and a Yugoslavian Mauser that are both indelibly marked by the importer with electro-pencil. I'm wondering if he had similar type of firearms that weren't marked in such a way, as many collectors don't like having that stuff etched into older firearms as it is seen to bring down the value of the firearm. I wish there was some way to properly follow up on this story and find out if he's charged and if so, with what. Once again, its how they enforce the current laws that is so irritating. I'd much rather the Feds spend their time catching bulk smugglers who deal to the thugs than busting a collector who might have simply been trying to turn an extra buck. Not saying he shouldn't be in trouble if he broke the law; he should. But they really need to stop acting like that kind of a guy is a threat to public safety when there are REAL threats to public safety out there. But I guess guys like that collector make for an easier target and give them something to feed to their anti pals in the mass media.JJVP wrote:And it begins.

That is the part that bothers me. No charges filed, gun collection confiscated, and then they'll figure out if he broke any laws. And if they finally decide he broke no laws, how fast you think they'll return his collection. And where in the article says anything about him selling guns? Given the BATF'ers track record, I am inclined to believe in their malfeasance before I would suspect a gun collector.Bob Adams is one of the most reputable firearms collectors in the Southwest.
His knowledge and collection is varied and wide ranging. He has a Relics and Curios FFL which allows him to buy and sell ANTIQUE weapons. Something stinks here.
I've known the man 20 years or more. Almost ALL of the weapons confiscated(stolen by the feds) were collectible pieces. It's all he dealt in, rare and unique collectibles.
To me, this looks like the BATF going after one of the last "home businesses" they can find..
Indeed, there are other things they can do if they find clerical errors, etc. versus "taking him down". This is like the stunts that they used to pull back in the Clintonian era, full-blown "jackbooted thug" mode. And if he was an ANTIQUES firearm dealer, then there are other rules regarding firearms classified as such, not the same as buying a modern collectible gun. Don't think for a moment that the "shock and awe" portion of a firearms raid, combined with the public piling up of firearms in the front yard is by accident. Got to properly train the sheep . . .
