Bipartisan Gun COntrol Legislation

I know this is the Huffington Post but this just illustrates that there will likely be some infringements passed.

The RINOs are alive and well.
House lawmakers on Tuesday unveiled their first bipartisan bill targeting gun violence in this Congress: a measure to make firearms trafficking a federal crime.

During a press event, the bill's sponsors -- Reps. Patrick Meehan (R-Pa.), Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), Scott Rigell (R-Va.) and Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) -- said their legislation would create a single section of federal code to give law enforcement the ability to prosecute gun traffickers. It would also impose up to 20 years in jail for "straw purchasers," or those who buy guns for people prohibited from buying them on their own. Their measure is among the recommendations included in the gun violence package put forward last month by President Barack Obama.

Too bad a law like that wouldn't apply to Holder, Clinton and Obama; if it did then I'd say pass it, jail them, then amend it to repeal it but NOT retroactively.

Text of bill is now available. I have added a summary in the federal bills thread:

Looks like this is supposed to either create or increase the penalty for 'straw purchasers'. If there's already such a law on the books, they should take measures to enforce that law rather than create a new one. If there isn't, then this one actually makes sense provided it can be effeciently enforced. If they've "got to do something" I'd rather lawmakers go after criminals than the rest of us (99.99% according to Uncle Ted).

Uh, isn't it already illegal?

This would make it "strenuously" illegal.

Was that a movie quote reference from A Few Good Men? Like "strenuously objecting" ? I got it.

Thank you. It was a subtle reference.
