juvenile record

Hey folks, I just had a question about juvenile records and background checks. I of course understand that you have to disclose everything, but I was wondering about the speed of background checks for folks with a juvenile record. My last incident was in early 1998, and as an adult I was arrested for some unpaid traffic tickets in late 2000. Having said that, how will this impact the speed of my background check?
I only lived in Tarrant and Denton counties for the past 10 years if that matters...

Thanks!

If you include a certified copy of the dispositions from the court, or a letter saying they found no records, your past should not have much impact the speed of the background check. If you don't include enough documentation, the delays can be long. Make it easy for DPS to say yes.

Good luck.

You will have to get paper copies of the disposition on any arrests you have from the court clerk in the county where that arrest occured. Hopefully you listed all of those events on your applicaiton origianlly. Once you have them in hand you will need to send the dispositions with the checklist and your CHL-100.

yeah, I listed everything...
I have paperwork on the unpaid tickets, but the folks at the juvenile office are giving me a hard time. they say that they are supposed to respond that "records do not exist". I'm wondering how much that will matter since it was well over 10 years ago.

Ask the juvenile office to give you something that says no record(s) exist from their search. That is adequate.

Ask them to put that in writing. Then you're all set.
