I recently trader for a Dan Wesson revolver in .357mag. The model I have is stainless about 3" barrel and does not have a removable barrel like most of them do. I have had a hard time finding much info on anything but the DW pistol packs that were sold with the removable barrel and all the different length barrels. I am wanting to find fair market value, production numbers, and maybe production date or range. The gun shoots very well and has good sites on it. It is about the size of a S&W 686 with 6 shot cylinder. Any info on this wheel gun is much appreciated. I can get some pics if need be...

The Dan Wesson company had three separate incarnations. The receiver may have Monson, Norwich, or Palmer engraved on it, or no such designation. All these companies made some revolvers to order for various agencies. That may explain the fixed barrel.

As for value, unless the piece is in spectacular condition, think $300. Stainless Dan Wesson revolvers are more rare and command higher prices. I haven't been following that market lately. Look on auctionarms.com for closed sales that sold to establish a more current value.

Asking prices on any auction site are pipe dreams. I've seen the same pieces listed repeatedly for years with no bidders.

I have found that it is a model 715. I need to look at the frame and see what city it was made it. I looked at the wiki page but did not get much useful info on my particular model.

After 30 years and a couple of reorganizations, it can be difficult to find the origin of an old Dan Wesson. There used to be a forum dedicated to them, but it dissolved several years ago. You can find a lot by "googling."

I'm pretty handy on the keyboard and I have only been able to find a bunch of old expired private sale adds and a bunch of pistol pac info, but not a lot on my specific gun.

I looked in Bluebook of Gun Values (28th Edition) and found the following for Model 715 fixed target; Mfg 93-95 and in .357 cal 3, 4, 5, or 6" fixed barrel with adj rear sight. Value in 100% is $280, 98% is $210, 95% is $170...

I don't want to get into an argument, but as far as I know, a Dan Wesson model 715 has an interchangeable barrel and adjustable sights. These are two that were bid up over $300 recently. The first link is a stainless .357 Magnum revolver with a 6-inch full-lug barrel that sold for $408:

This has the ugly synthetic grip. You can find wooden grip stocks for $50-ish if you are patient.
