"Trust me, we can tap this down," Honore said of the shootings. "It would take a commitment, and it's not going to be popular. Many people are going to say why are you bringing that to my community?
Rondell Freeman, a 17-year-old junior at Prologue Early College High School who was among the students to hear Honore's remarks, said he feels afraid on the streets or even visiting the local park in his Garfield Park community. Honore's suggestion to bring in state police and National Guard seems radical, but it may be necessary, he said.
"This is going to require more than just the Chicago Police Department," he said. "We are in a state right now where we need not only to get the community activated and mobilized and dealing with the issues in their community, but somewhere along the way, we're going to have to tap into some federal funding."

Chicago has a 100,000 street level gang bangers. Why is that so many? The Family (what family) in Chicago is a total failure.

Yet somehow the miserable failure of gun control is never discussed.

Martial law. That is the solution.
Make the peasants think that the bangers will be rounded up under martial law. Once all of the bangers are gone, unicorns will dance, butterflys will flitter, rainbows will appear. Martial law will go away and peace will reign.
Part of the plan. If martial law ever declared, time to go hunting.

Maybe a cow needs to knock over a lantern (again).

"We should do whatever it takes to end the violence, so we won't have to feel scared," he said. "These kids have guns. We need experienced people that can stop them."
People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both. Benjamin Franklin

Yes, but No, we cant.
Yes, a well trained armed force could eradicate the gang population. But many Innocent would be hurt or killed in the process.. That is not acceptable, so we cant.
Killing and maiming Innocent, which would turn the populace against the action and those committed to it... Attacking the "attackers" who now have to deal with the gangbangers and the local populace..That is a recipe for disaster.
And that is all before you take in the conspiracy theory stuff where local or Federal government would use the event to round up or kill folks they consider a political threat.
Possible? Sure, anything is possible..
But more likely to remain a cheesy John Grisham novel.

That could possibly be the best solution that I have heard yet...

Correct, and martial law never erases the seething anger of poverty that some people have, and the knowledge that the path to riches is to prey on the weak.
All those National Guard people need is for a rumor to start that they shot just one "innocent" person and everything will unravel before they know what is happening.
In the time it's taken me to write this, I can think of at least nine different scenarios where things can go horribly wrong, and the flames will be fueled even higher by the media.
