Well, it's been awhile since I had the wait. But at least I'm still valid to carry while I wait this time. The wife and I did the renewal class today and submitted documentation online tonight so we will see what the timeline looks like this time. my original took exactly 90 days. Maybe it will be quicker this time.

It should.
My paperwork got to DPS on the 13th ... today I wake up and find this.
Seems like I will be seeing plastic in about a week or so. I couldn't be happier, I let mine expire like a dolt.

That is great news. It didn't take long for you. I hope that is an indication of how fasat things are moving along. When I did my original some guys were waiting as much as 120 days to get plastic.
I am glad to see you are moving along so quickly in the process.

Well, finally progress on the DPS website. I checked this morning and it says they received everything and now background check under review. so it took a shade less than two weeks to finally see a change.

That is great news Killerfly. They must really be working in Austin these days. I am glad yours went so fast for you. I know when I did my original the wait just killed me.

Just got my renewal last week.. I let mine expire also. Only took about 3 weeks to get to me. Way quicker than the original app.

My status was manufacturing pending on Saturday. Today it says mailed. I bet you are in for a pleasant surprise. They aren't messing around on the renewals!
Like you, my first time application took at least 90 days. It might have even stretched to 120. My son waited six months! It was bad back then.

Yes I remember how bad it was back then. some people were taking forever. I thought mine took forever and it was only 90 days but it seemed like forever.

Well progress again. This morning it changed from manufacturing pending to manufacturing. I really can't believe how quickly this is moving along this time.
