Light crowd at Mesquite Gun Show

Went to the MGS today. Got there about 8:45 and had no problem finding a parking place in the main lot. Pretty short line. Inside there were still plenty of people selling at high prices but could see a crack in some of the pricing. Saw a DPMS for $899 and a Colt LE model for $999. Ammo was still high.

Looks like we could be turning the corner.

Turning a corner? Maybe out in the rural areas but in the cities and suburbs where I live we are nowhere even close. Guns are a little easier to find but ammo is still really hard to find locally. Walmart, Academy and Gander are always out of ammo in common calibers by noon and local gun shops are hitting you hard for ammo. I am so glad I bought a lot of ammo back in 09. I thought I would never need that much on hand but after seeing the prices online or in LGS I am glad I did. I know so many people who have dozens of firearms and little or no ammo. :banghead: If you can't afford to stock up you should roll your own imo. :txflag:

I wouldn't call the Metroplex a rural area. Picked up 550 rounds of WWB .45 from Walmart Monday.

"rlol" I don't think Mesquite has been rural in 75 years or so. :biggrinjester: You gotta head another 50 miles East to get rural.

I went to the Pasadena gun show last weekend & it was very crowded. To the point that I was wondering if the fire marshal was going to have to step in. Ammo prices were stupid ($1/round or more in all handgun calibers). Couldn't find a common Glock pistol anywhere. But some of the AR prices are starting to come down - not quite at the pre Sandy Hook levels, but probably at what we'll see as the new normal.

That has been my experience in the Houston area as well. Of course I am sure it doesn't help that I am in the #1 Chl zip code in Texas. :txflag:

I didn't go because I thought it'd still be a zoo over there and have to park in the mud.

I was shocked when we pulled up. Line was so short we were inside just a couple mins after 9:00.

If that was a Colt LE6920 you saw that's a good price and is actually around $50 with in normal prices.

It was the LE6920. It was all I could do to keep walking. Thought my marriage was a little more important than the AR.

I would have still been tempted. Fortunately my wife is understanding about firearms. After one of the first times I took her shooting (when we were dating) I ran out of ammo for my other guns and we had to take turns using the 10/22. She didn't like that so the next weekend she had to go out and buy one for her. Since then we've bought guns for each other as presents over the years.

I forgot to mention I bought me LE6920 last summer with Magpul furniture for $1050 new. At that time that rifle was going for 11-1150 and the regular version was going for $950-1050 so the price you saw was good.

My wife has been more than understanding. The overflowing safe is testament to that. That being said, the 13 yr old just started flight lessons. Flight lessons plus more firearms wouldn't go over well.
