Hello Everyone,

I purchased a new pistol on GunBroker last week. I had the pistol shipped to the FFL holder that I typically use. I was supposed to go pick it up tonight, but i just got a call from the FFL holder stating that when he ran my background check the system informed him that my approval was delayed.

Although I recently received my CHL, the FFL holder didn't know - he always asks me before he runs the background check. I told him last time that I was expecting to receive it soon, but I didn't have it yet. This is the first time he has run the background check before our appointment - not sure why he did that. He just said he based it on my old paperwork.

Of course, he didn't need to run the check because I have a CHL. So that's annoying. Even more annoying is that I just went thru the CHL process, got my license, and now the FBI/NCIS is picking up some issue that needs further investigation. I don't get it. Nothing has occurred over the past few months. No arrests, no kids or child support obligations, no visits to the mental hospital, no change in address, no changes period - except that I'm a few weeks older.

Anyone have thoughts on what could have caused this?

VERY annoying. Geez! Very interested to hear how this shakes out.

or some D I mean agent at the gestapo decided to delay your purchase for fun. hope it all works out good for you

This would be my guess. I also would let him know please do not run anymore background checks until the customer gets to the store.

He already apologized for running it early. I'm still not sure why he did that. He didn't have a good explanation. It's not like it takes very long to run it when I show up to pick up new guns.

The last time I purchased a gun, my CHL was temporarily expired (I waited too long to submit the renewal paperwork). So I had to go through NICS. My MICS query got bumped upstairs and there was a slight delay.......just a few minutes........but the FFL told me that it was probably because I had JUST had an FBI background check. In the end, it was all OK. The purchase was a rifle that I bought on gunbroker from a dealer in PA. It was my FFL here that ran the 4473.
