my employer has a secured parking lot w/ security patrolling. explosives are manufactured at the location. oil/gas service company (not a refinery, nor chemical manufacturer). As I understand the law (52.062), carrying in the car (even with chl) is not allowed. Any thoughts on this or am I misunderstanding the law...in your opinion...i know u r not a lawyer...

Code: Select all

(F)AAproperty owned or leased by a chemical
manufacturer or oil and gas refiner with an air authorization under
Chapter 382, Health and Safety Code, and on which the primary
business conducted is the manufacture, use, storage, or
transportation of hazardous, combustible, or explosive materials,
except in regard to an employee who holds a license to carry a
concealed handgun under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code,
and who stores a firearm or ammunition the employee is authorized by
law to possess in a locked, privately owned motor vehicle in a
parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area the employer
provides for employees that is outside of a secured and restricted area.
I think you are correct in that you cannot have your gun inside your vehicle inside your company's secured parking area. Isn't an explosive a chemical compound? Anyway, if they do fall under this they still must provide you another parking area outside the secure area.

This is the key. If they don't have the air authorization then it is not a off limits.
